Chapter 36 The child and Hope

Opal's Pov
I told them all about what have been happening to me and even about the attacks on Homeworld. They should know what have been happening, they deserved to know.

We have been trying to "fix" me, but we haven't discovered the reason why I am like this. Steven's spit didn't even heal me at all, it didn't do anything.
So I have been living here on Earth for a while. Steven told me I could stay here in the barn and live with Lapiz and Peridot until we have fixed me.

Yellow and the other diamonds don't know anything yet, but maybe I should tell them.I can't hide forever and I know they worry about me. It should be the best to do so. I should probably ask any of the gems about my thoughts and opinions.

I stood up from the pile of hay I were recently laying on and walked outside, Lapiz and Peridot have been working on their meep morps recently. They asked me if I wanted to try it but I refused, I wanted some time alone to think for a while. But now it just got lonely being alone in this barn.

I walked out of the barn covering my face from the sudden brightens of the sun, inside the barn were always much darker then the outside so it took awhile for my eyes to adjust to the brightness.

When my eyes adjusted to the light I looked around for any sign for Lapiz or Peridot. But they weren't anywhere in sight. They probably have left to visit Steven or something like that I thought.

I sighed softly and kept on walking further away from the barn, still looking for them. Trying to make sure if they were here or not. But still nothing. I guess they would come back soon. I just needed to wait I thought as I looked around me.

I stopped walking when I heard unfamiliar voices. The voices became louder and clearer with each seconds, alarming me to hide. I ran towards the bushes and watched a human come in sight. It were small, smaller than usual. Maybe it were only a kid I thought as I inspected the child from the bushes.

It had long brown hair, hazel eyes and a puffy pink dress. The waist of the dress where tightly wrapped with white silk and a bow in the back.

I tried to look closer since I hadn't seen a child up close. But when I did I accidentally stepped on a stick making it snap. The child stopped talking, looking straight at were I where hiding. I'm screwed...
-Show yourself!

The child screamed, I sighed knowing I couldn't hide forever. I walked out from the bushes revealing myself for the little girl. Her mouth were agape at my appearance.

I were about to say something but she stopped me as her eyes lit up and flung towards me. She pinched both my cheeks with her fingers and pulled them. I were completely still, just watching the girl do whatever she pleased.

She stopped what she were doing and took a step back, looking me up and down. I felt a little exposed when she did that, it were pretty uncomfortable.
-Why are you blue?

The girl said as she inspected my skin.
Ohhh right, I forgot humans weren't in such bright colors that we gems do. I chuckled uncomfortable as I knew I were about to be discovered. Steven had told me to stay away from human society and stay hidden. After all, I weren't normal towards humans and that could be a big problem.
-I-I uhhh....

I said still unsure if I should keep quiet or tell a lie.I looked down As I were to open my mouth to speak once again a familiar figure walked between me and the girl. Hiding my appearance.

I looked up seeing Lapis, weren't she with Steven I thought. I didn't complain cause she saved me from complete embarrassment. I thought I would just faint cuase of the anxiety I felt. I weren't used to talk to new beings as such like a human child.
-I apologize for my sudden approach human, but we have to go.
