Saturday, January 12th

{Dahlia's POV}
••••••••••••••••••

"I don't know what else you want us to tell you, Doe." Officer Quinnley sighed as he rubbed his forehead and then took a sip of his coffee. "We'll look into it."

"Yeah, you say that, but somehow I don't believe it." I spat.

I'd woken up bright and early to come down to the police station and tell them everything I could about Mackenzie and Dash and that whole situation. I told them about what Dash had done to her, I told them about what I'd done to Dash, and I told them about how Dash was more than capable of killing a girl. They were very clearly not taking me seriously. They chuckled to themselves as I told them everything and sent each other looks as if I was crazy too.

"Dahlia, we're required to look into it, so we will," Officer Wane rolled his eyes. I watched as the older man stood up from his desk and went over to the coffee machine to get a refill. "Just don't expect us to come up with anything."

"What, because you're useless and you suck at your job?" I questioned sharply.

"No, because we know the boys you told us about and they're all good boys," Officer Quinnley sent me a look. "Especially that Dash fellow. He wouldn't harm a fly!"

"Did you miss the part where I told you that he raped Mackenzie?" I raised my brows. "And helped his friends jump her beforehand?"

"You haven't provided any proof that he actually did that." He talked to me as if I was stupid. "I can't just assume the kid is guilty because you say he is—

"But you can assume he's innocent?" I raised my brow.

"—I can't just go by whatever you say. It's not like I can ask Mackenzie either," He sighed. "If she'd come in and reported what you say happened to her, maybe we could've--"

"Maybe there's a reason she didn't come in to report it. Maybe she knew you guys would talk down to her like she was some type of hysterical little child with no fucking sense, kinda like the way you're speaking to me," I glared. "Well you can be as patronizing and as condescending as you wanna be, but that doesn't change the fact that Dash beat, raped, and killed Mackenzie."
