Still Saturday.
{Dahlia's POV}
••••••••••••••••••"Yellow just isn't my color." Cora mumbled before disappearing in my closet once again. I didn't respond as I continued to focus on my laptop. Cora's been here for the last four hours 'taking care' of me—or should I say, chucking a bottle of water in my general direction if I mention that I'm thirsty, trying on my clothes and messing up my closet in the process, and distracting me from my work.
I'm so glad to have her here, though. We haven't been spending much time together lately and I didn't wanna be here alone. Not after earlier.
Her making fun of my 'granny panties' and my bra size may be annoying, but it's better than sitting here, staring at the wall and drowning in self-hatred. That's scheduled for a little later tonight.
"This is the sluttiest dress I've, like, ever seen in my life! Can I borrow it?" Cora questioned as she came strutting out with a small dress.
I sighed as I looked up from my laptop and to see what she was talking about. "That's Cadence's dress."
"I figured," She nodded before disappearing again. "Are you almost done editing? It's about time for you to eat. Dad told me to feed you every three and a half hours and make sure you don't eat too much. You know, kinda like a goldfish...I wish I hadn't accidentally killed the goldfish Hayes won me at that fair. I named him Albert and he was more orange than gold but—"
"Your sister's coming over to take care of you today when she'd probably rather be spending time with her boyfriend or one of her friends. But as usual, everything revolves around poor, precious Dahlia, so she must've had to drop her plans to see about you, you big baby. Your dad probably made her do it since you've got him so worried about you. You're a selfish little girl, you know?"
I remembered what Valerie had said and shivered a little, yanking my covers closer to my chest.
"I'm not finished or even remotely close, and I'm not hungry. You know you don't have to stay here taking care of me if you don't want to. Denny's gonna be home in a while and I'll be fine until then." I mumbled.
"Nonsense. If I go home I won't get to browse through your clothes anymore, duh," She rolled her eyes as she came out wearing a pair of my favorite shoes. "And anyway, I'm actually enjoying myself! It's been a while since you and I spent any time together. I...Almost kinda miss you." She muttered the last part quickly.
I smiled a little. "I miss spending time with you too. We'll have to start hanging out more often."
"What're you working on that's taking so long anyway?" She changed the subject quickly. "Is it some super amazing, groundbreaking video that the world needs to see?"
"No, I've edited, like, four videos already, and they were all DIYs so they didn't take long to edit. Next, I have to edit my 'Thrift shop with me' video." I explained.
"You should take a break before you go cross-eyed." She let out a small sigh as she plopped down in the chair next to my bed.
"Thanks for the advice."
"Are you okay? You seem a little...weird today."
