I watch Sienna, or what may just be her body, stare at us. Gold eyes shine brightly at us, but I can't tell if it's Asma or my Dimples. I'd like to think that if it is Sienna, she would run immediately to us. But after the terrible terms she left on, I'm not so sure.
"I need you four to remember: this is a civil conversation. We're here to see if Sienna's okay and I'm here to figure out General Ryan's play," Leader Hill says slowly as though we're children.
"Don't you already know her play?" Dean asks the same question I had been thinking.
"I know what her past plan was, but it's been years. Besides, many things have changed and now with only one Key left, well," he chuckles and turns to me. I'm in the passenger seat, Dom and Dean are in the back, and Theo is all the way in the back of the SUV. "Let's just say things are getting tight," Leader Hill finishes his sentence.
I've had enough of his speech and I turn to the men in the back. Dom and Dean can finally look me in the eye. Affection doesn't shine in their gaze, but trust does. They may not trust me with their hearts, but I have their mind. And I'll protect their lives to my very last breath. Theo doesn't look anyone in the eyes. His mind always seems to be wandering, and his eyes are constantly glossy as if he's on the verge of crying. It doesn't matter that Dean and Dom somewhat forgave us, he's still punishing himself for it. I don't even think he realizes it.
"You guys ready?" I question them and also myself. I don't know what I'm going to do if Sienna says she's staying there voluntarily. If she says she never wants to see us again. I know she's not one for world domination, but I do know that all she's ever wanted was freedom and that if she has that there, she'll stay there.
"No," Dean is the only one that answers.
"Yeah," I sigh, opening the door. "Me neither."
We all get out the truck and walk towards the restaurant. I get deja vu of the guys and I meeting the enemy at a restaurant, Sienna safe at home. Except she wasn't and she was right behind us. Now though, she'll be on the other side of the table instead of in my lap.
"One more thing," Leader Hill says before opening the door, "I do all the talking."
He walks in, leaving no time for us to protest. Based on Dom's stern face, I suppose I shouldn't protest.
I fall back so I'm next to Dom. Dean follows Leader Hill and Theo floats behind him. "Why should he get to do the talking?" I grumble, lowly.
"We'll all get too emotional for this 'civil' conversation," Dom says, using air quotes.
"If I got something to say, I'm gonna say it," I warn him.
He chuckles and passes me a gorgeous smile. "I expect nothing less."
My chest warms at the small affection being passed through us. It immediately goes cold when we come up to the table with General Ryan and Asma. It's so very clearly Asma based on the 'I'm so bored' face that she's trying to hard to pull off. Sienna might have tried to appear unbothered, but she can't hide her emotions from us well. She also would be standing on attention, duty or not, and ready to run, protect, or fight. Asma here looks completely comfortable in her chair and her hands are fully visible for us to see.
I can't believe I ever got the two mixed up.
"Hill, how wonderful to see you again," General Ryan greets, standing up.
Leader Hill surprises me by putting up a hand and shaking his head. "Let's not fake anything," he smiles tightly. "We both hate each other and I'm sure everyone here knows it."
