13: Maid

Normal POV(3rd Person PoV)

After her punishment had ended, Akane went down the inn's lobby, the receptionist called her out and asked.

"Akane-san, could you please give this to Yuni-Chan, the Garrison Commander left it for her."

The receptionist handed Akane a letter, she thanked him and went back to their room.

"Yuni you've got a letter sent for you."

Surprised with Akane's words Yuni asked.

"From whom?"

"It's from Chiharu."

"Wanna read it together Akane?"

"Sure!"

After they finished reading the letter, the two girls stared at each other, Yuni had a bright smile, whilst in contrast optimism. Akane had a worried look on her face.

"Chiharu seems really interested on hiring you as a maid, but let me ask you Yuni. To you really want to work for Chiharu?"

Yuni smiled and vigorously nodded.

"Yes, I want to work as Chiharu-san's maid, if it means that I could accompany you, I'll accept any work."

The smile on Yuni's face quickly disappeared, she let's out a sigh and told Akane.

"I should resign as a helper for the inn beforehand, I want to explain to them why I wanna resign. After all, I love my job as a helper."

"Okay."

Yuni told Akane to wait in their room, whilst she talked to the receptionist.

"Can I talk with you for a moment Mister?"

The receptionist turned to Yuni and smiled wryly.

"I could tell from the look on your face, you want to resign as a helper."

"Yes..."

"Could you tell me the reason why you wish to resign?"

Yuni took a deep breathe, she built up her confidence and answered.

"I was offered a job as one of commander's maids, I want to be able to watch over Akane, making sure she isn't doing foolish or reckless. I loved the time I spent working here, but I want to make sure Akane's safe no matter what."

"I understand, good luck with your new job , here's your pay for the day."

The receptionist sighed, he took out a few silver coins, whilst having a saddened look on his face.

"Thank you."

Yuni said weakly to the receptionist, whom only nodded in response and went back to work.

Akane grabbed Yuni's hand and went to their room.

The two wore their finest dress and west to the east side of Dalen, the district of nobles and rich merchants.

"This is the address on the letter right? The one that Chiharu left."

Yuni nodded as she stares at the mansion, Akane reached for the knob of the gate, a maid opened the door and asked.

"What's your business here?"

Akane handed the maid the letter, after reading it, she smiled, bowed and told the two.

"Our lady is expecting you, please make yourself at home.

The two were escorted by the maid to Chiharu's office.
