Akane's PoV
Upon the company's arrival to fort Elras, few of the men were quick to station themselves atop the walls, whilst others began cutting down trees from the nearby forest, and the remaining few were unloading food supplies into the Granaries and warehouses.
After unloading the supplies, multiple tents were erected within the fortress walls, preparing in advance for possible refugees.
Upon having my quarters prepared, I asked my maid Yuni to serve me tea while I studied the regional map.
Pouring tea down my cup, humming cheerfully Yuni asked whilst embracing me from behind, I turned my head towards her and asked.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself."
Yuni nodded and undid my ponytail and combed my hair lightly.
"I am enjoying myself, ever since joining the army, we hardly spent time together, lucky for me now we have time to be together."
I let out a sighed and smiled and replied.
"I'm doing this for you dear, I also had a few of my men investigate Elafas regarding your mother's whereabouts. However as of now the investigation bore no fruit."
"I see..."
Dejected from the news, a cloud of doubt could be felt around her. Yuni let's go of her embrace and asked.
"You won't disappear like mother right Akane?"
Upon asking me this question, I quickly noticed her shivering, her eyes filled with worry. I smiled and was hastily replied.
"Yes Yuni, I promise that I won't leave you alone."
During our conversation Ange enters the tent, gave a salute and asked.
"Milady Akane, I would like you to come and inspect the recently delivered supplies."
I nodded and left the tent, Yuni began cleaning the room whilst I was away.
"We have enough supplies that could last for three months if distributed amongst the populance of this region."
Ange told me whilst having a doubtful look on her face. I patted her shoulder and replied.
"It will last."
Upon hearing my words Ange smiled and nodded.
"If you say so milady."
Ange began helping the soldiers with unloading the supplies, I entered the dark and dimly lighted castle. A torch at hand whilst traversing the dark halls of the castle I found my destination.
I opened the door to the library, took a deep breathe and approached the shelves, picking up a few books and placing them down the nearby table, I grabbed a candle and chair and sat down.
Hours passed while I was reading books, I noticed that the troops a company of troops was dispatched, mostly the troops under Yuito's command.
I went outside the castle and asked.
"What's happening?"
"The orcs have attacked two nearby villages, Yuka went to most of the troops to defend the northwest village, but we don't have enough troops to defend the eastern village."
Asking for a mount, I turned to the remaining soldiers at the fort, numbering twenty five.
"Prepare to move out!"
With twenty people under my command, I led my troops to the second village under attack my orcs.
Under my command, the soldiers reorganizing into a defensive formation around the two watchtowers positioned at the eastern entrance of the village, I've also ordered the troops to organize some defensive spikes around the watchtower.
