Akane's POV
After two months of rigorous physical training, both my physical strength and swordsmanship has gradually improved.
During my day off, I took Yuni with me yo the shopping district, whom coincidentally have a day off on the same day as me.
We spent the day buying clothes, food and other necessities, however I noticed something was different in the city's atmosphere.
"Something's not right, somehow the town feels less lively than before."
Yuni nodded to my remark and we finished shopping without a problem.
On the following day, I wore my uniform, holstered the sword I ordered from the blacksmith, and quickly left the inn. My destination is Faramort Base.
Upon my arrival, the soldier stationed at the base entrance salutes me, he had a stern look on his face as he told me.
"The Garrison Commander wishes to see you, please come to her quarters."
Puzzled with the soldier's words I asked, not hiding my confusion.
"Garrison Commander?"
He sighed and replied.
"Captain Chiharu Natsuo, she recently got promoted into the rank of garrison commander."
That's strange, she got promoted by two ranks. Only people who could get promoted by two ranks are either. People who died in battle, or people whom did an act heroism that saved the country.
I nodded and thanked the soldiers, then made my way to Chiharu's quarters.
Upon entering I noticed a really stressed out Chiharu, whom upon noticing me rang a bell, her personal maid quickly entered the room and served me a cup of tea, along with some cookies to eat.
"The skirmishes between our kingdom and the empire are escalating, it's only a matter of time before it becomes a full scale war."
Chiharu explained to me with an anxious tone, her maid poured some tea to calm her down, she took a sip and turned to me.
"Have you heard about my promotion?"
I nodded and replied.
"Congratulations on your promotion. I'm sure that you'll be a great leader."
Chiharu shook her head in denial.
"No way, I'm unworthy of such a rank, I doubt in my ability to lead my subordinates."
I asked the maid to pour me a second serving of tea, with a serious look on my face.
"I think you're a good leader, whom cares for her subordinates, Chiharu please have more faith in both yourself and those who follow you."
Puzzled by remark she asked.
"What do you mean?"
I took a sip of tea and smiled.
"You're diligent with your work, always trying your best, your bond with your subordinates proves that you've earned their trust."
"How can you tell?"
