20: Lust

Yuni's POV

I continued my work as one of Chiharu's maids, during one of our private conversations she told me.

"I want you to become Akane's personal maid. Surely you heard about her birthright as crown princess."

I nodded in response which made Chiharu grin.

"Make sure that she doesn't do anything rash. If she puts herself at risk, please stop her, even if it's against her will."

With a confident smile on my face I told Chiharu.

"You can count on me."

I'm worried that Akane has became reckless, when we first meet, she hardly did anything that puts her in harms way. Akane would always pick the safest option. Is she perhaps doing all this for me? For my sake?

I continued to pounder to myself as I returned to Akane's quarters.

Three weeks later

Several weeks had passed since the last time I had some blood, it's returning.... The unpleasant feeling I keep having, the urge to drink blood. This has been most prevalent whenever I see Akane's face. It's only when I see her does this urge becomes almost uncontrollable.

A voice inside my head, constantly telling me to drink blood, I need to control this urge, if not I may end up harming Akane.

"Is something the matter Yuni?"

Akane asked me with a troubled look on her face. She stood up her chair and asked.

I shook my head in denial and smiled in an attempt to hide my discomfort. I sheepishly replied.

"N-No, why did you ask Akane."

"Yuni..."

Akane puts down her quill and leans closer to me.

"Are you perhaps hungry? Do you want to drink my blood?"

I quickly shook my head, my face became beet red due to blushing and replied.

"I-I'm fine, I don't want to drink blood."

My face got even redeer as I took a step back, Akane simply stared at me in wonder, she let's out a sigh and told me.

"Is that so? If you need something, don't be afraid to ask okay?"

Akane sat back down the chair and continued her work, I quickly went for the door for some fresh air.

I'm sure Akane's noticed, her face reveals her suspicion, there's no doubt that she's noticed.

For now I should go to some to a place with no people.

I left the fort and went to a nearby pond, I sat down a tree log, I stared down at the water and saw my reflection.

A scarlet red eye, long silver hair, a pair of sharp fangs. I have really became a monster.

I got on my knees and covered my face as tears slowly began to leak from my eyes.

"Mother... Where are you? I miss you so much!"

I heard footsteps from behind me, which startled me and I quickly stood up and asked.

"Who's there!!!"

"Do you miss her that much Yuni? Don't worry, we'll find her, didn't I promised you?"
