Amy was happy today. The sun was shining bright, kissing her cheeks and face. The bright blue sky seemed so pretty today, the creatures played around in the failed playfully. Amber was perched on her nest, nestled with Ari, as she watched. She knew something was special today, and especially for Amy.
"You're 20," Noor smiled, raising up her hands. She gave Amy a huh, telling her how much she had grown, and how old she herself was getting. She had just turned 35, and to her, it seemed she was becoming a senior. She sighed at the old times.
Amy nodded, but remained smiling. Inside she was a little sullen. The spaceship had been recently built, and she was in despair. The crew had worked hard for weeks, months and the few years, some taking all-nighters to complete the project. Everyone was pitching in, because they really felt the urge to leave the Earth. It was no longer safe for them.
Amy tried to protest, telling them that the Second World was okay. Infact, she had been doing it for the past years, four or five. She kept protesting, but no one seemed to listen. It seemed they had blocked all of her opinions, and only kept their own. Amy was frustrated, but she still continued. If she had made her choice, she wanted to get people on board with her.
Noor was satisfied with the spaceship. She staggered a little back, and watched, admiring the every detail, the features. Everyone admired the ship, it seemed to them the most best thing to ever happen to humanity. It seemed now that humankind had a chance to survive, maybe not in their home anymore, but they could start over, fresh.
Amber one day, came to the dome. The people watched in awe as the great bird seemed herself close to the entrance. Ari had fully grown, and he came alongside his mother. He scanned to find Amy, to notice her (She was easily distinguishable, she had long, brown hair, green eyes, and she always wore the same exact outfit: a pink hoodie with light blue jeans).
Amy quickly followed the crowd, noticed Amber and Ari. She ignored the murders and murmurs from the people, and quickly opened the entrance door. The warm air kissed her cheeks, it had never gotten old, she thought to herself. She smiled.
"Your ship, it's almost ready, I see," Ari said, lifting his head high to notice the small peak of the ship behind the big buildings. "It's very large."
Amy nodded at his observation. "It has to be. It will hold like, about 150 or so people. And also, it needs to hold food, water. Everything thats needed for us." She turned to Amber, becuase she noticed she was going to say something.
"Happy Birthday, love," she said softly. She lowered her neck, and Amy embraced her, saying her thank you. "It's hard to believe you were once 15, and now you've grown to 20."
"Time goes fast," Amy said sadly.
"I guess you're leaving today?" Ari asked, his eyes dimmined, and she could see the sadness in his face, the hint of it in his voice too. He really loved her, because she was funny and sweet. She always helped him, ever since he was a chick. She was something he admired, just as much as his own mother.
Amy gave a small shrug.
"Just as well," Amber said, giving an affectionate nudge to Ari. "Today, Ari is becoming a Guardian. He's spreading his wings." Ari puffened at the mention of this, he wanted to look more tougher and stronger. Amy held back a laugh.
"Aw, too soon? It seemed like you entered the world just yesterday."
He laughed, saying, "Amy, it's been like, five years!" Amber nodded, and expal8ned that Guardian chicks grow up very fast, the most maturest at age six. She herself was already ten years old, and soon, once Ari left, she would get another chick.
