The Doctor's POV
"Y/N?" I called, shaking her shoulders. "Why isn't she waking up?"
"I don't know." Rory replied. "Doctor, what's going on? Are we dreaming now, or is this real?" I glanced back at him, and saw both him and Amy were staring at me in confusion. "I honestly have no idea, Rory. Just in case, trust nothing. Do you understand?" I asked, and Amy rolled her eyes. "This feels so real." She admitted, looking around at her Leadworth surroundings. "Has she woken up yet?" I shook my head, lightly brushing the hair away from Y/N's face. "I might have to carry her." I mumbled, looking around and spotting a building with people in it. Old people. As softly as I could, I lifted Y/N off the ground and held her in my arms. "Doctor?" Amy called. "Where are we going?" I gestured to the old people's home with my head. "People!" I explained briefly, going to move. As I did so, I heard the sound of birds. "No..." I mumbled, trying my hardest not to fall asleep. "Y/N..." I trailed off, as my eyes slowly shut and the world turned dark. When I woke back up, I was back in the TARDIS. Sitting up, I noticed Y/N sat on one of the seats around the TARDIS console. "Doctor?" She questioned, hope appearing in her eyes. "Y/N?" I asked, as she got on her feet, and approached me. She flung her arms around me tightly, as I realised she was shaking. "What's wrong?" I asked."You scared me." She admitted. "You...Amy, Rory, you guys wouldn't wake up. I shook you, and you didn't even react." I tightened my grip on her, tracing circles on her back. "I'm here now, alright?" I reassured her. "You shouldn't worry so much. I'll always come back for you, no matter what." She pulled away, her tear-streaked cheeks glistening in the light from the TARDIS console. "What is it?" She sniffed, drying her soaked cheeks with the back of her hand. "This man showed up while you were asleep. He knows what wrong with me. My ability to read Gallifreyan, the headaches, everything. All of a sudden it made sense." She answered. "And I'm terrified." As I was about to question what she meant, Amy and Rory appeared on the staircase. "Y/N!" Amy exclaimed, lightly hugging the younger girl.
"Glad you're back with us, Y/N." Rory added with a faint smile. Y/N weakly nodded, as I got on my feet.
"Right, so what should we do?" I asked, as the TARDIS veered to one side violently. "This is bad! I don't like this!" I yelled, before kicking the underside of the console. I let out a yelp of pain, clutching my foot. "Never use force!" I cried, as my foot began to ache. "You just embarrass yourself. Unless you're cross, in which case, always use force!"
"Are you alright?" Y/N asked, with concern in her voice. I nodded, wincing slightly.
"Shall I run and get the manual?" Amy asked.
"I threw it in a supernova." I admitted, heading down the stairs to the area underneath the TARDIS console.
"You threw the manual in a supernova?" Amy repeated in disbelief. "Why?"
"Because I disagreed with it! Stop talking to me when I'm cross!" I snapped, as Y/N and Amy both rolled their eyes.
"OK, but whatever's wrong with the TARDIS, is that what caused us to dream about the future?" Rory asked, as a slightly sad look crossed over Y/N's face. "If we were dreaming about the future..." I began, before Amy cut me off.
"Of course we were. We were in Leadworth!"
"Upper Leadworth." Rory corrected, as I returned to the main console.
"Yeah, and we could still be in Upper Leadworth, dreaming of this. Don't you get it?" I questioned.
"This is so confusing." Y/N commented, and Amy nodded.
"OK, no, this is definitely real. I'm awake." She said.
"And you thought you were awake when you were all elephanty!" I replied.
"Hey!" Amy snapped defensively. "Pregnant."
"You could be giving birth right now. This could be the dream. I told you, trust nothing we see, hear or feel. Look around you. Examine everything. Look for all the details that don't ring true." I instructed, before glancing at Y/N. Her expression worried me. Even though she had a smile on her face, her eyes seemed like she was about to burst into tears at any moment. I comfortingly smiled at her, before I returned to the console. "We're in a spaceship that's bigger on the inside than the outside." Rory interrupted.
"With a bow-tie wearing alien and his human girlfriend." Amy added.
"So maybe 'what rings true' isn't so simple." Rory concluded.
"Valid point." I admitted, as the lights faded and everything became lit with a faint green glow. I felt a hand link with mine; I stared behind me. Y/N was staring at the centre console piece, confusion in her eyes. I studied it too for a moment. Nothing was moving. My TARDIS was dead. "It's dead." I said, my voice soft. "We're in a dead time machine."
"How can it be dead?" Y/N asked quietly, as I heard the sound of birdsong. Y/N moved her hand onto my shoulder, clinging to me. I put my arm around her shoulders, pulling her towards me. "Remember, this is real. But when we wake up in the other place, remember how real this feels." I said to Amy and Rory, before lightly kissing the side of Y/N's head.
"It is real. I know it's real." Amy insisted, as Y/N placed her head on my shoulder. I placed her down on the floor softly, as I began to fall asleep myself, my arm still around her. I wasn't going to let her go. I was going to protect her. No matter what that guy had said, no matter what was wrong with her. She was my girlfriend, my remarkable human, and I was never going to lose her. Never. That was my last thought and I fell asleep once again.
