AN: I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters. I don't own you either. E/C = Your eye colour.
The Doctor's POV
When I awoke again, I was back in Leadworth. Y/N was already awake, stood over by the window with her back to me. I stood up groggily, as Amy stirred in her sleep. "Y/N?" I questioned softly, and she turned to face me, her E/C eyes showing how she felt. Upset. Her tear streaked face made me slightly confused. Why was she crying? "Y/N?" I repeated, as she turned away from me sharply. "What's wrong?"
"What's wrong?" She repeated angrily. "What he said about you and Amy..."
"You shouldn't listen to him." I insisted. "That's his thing, he can get into people's heads. Exploit their weaknesses." She glared back at me. "It's not just him. There's something going on. I'm not dumb, Doctor." She answered bitterly. I sighed.
"Listen to me, Y/N." I replied, placing my hands on her shoulders. "There is nothing happening between me and Amy, OK? It's just the Dream Lord getting inside your mind and upsetting you." I gingerly kissed her forehead, and when she didn't push me away, I lightly kissed her lips. "Get a room." Amy complained from behind me. I pulled away from Y/N, and turned to face my redheaded companion. As Rory also got on his feet, The Dream Lord entered in a disguise. Why was he dressed as some sort of therapist? "Oh no, this is very bad." He commented, looking at the pieces of paper in his hands. "It would appear that your brain is completely see-through! But then I've always been able to see through you, Doctor."
"What do you want?" Y/N asked coldly.
"Wow, calm down sweetheart!" The Dream Lord replied. "No need to get so mad." I glared at him, but stayed silent. The Dream Lord smirked at me knowledgeably, before continuing, "Now then. The prognosis is this. If you die in the dream, you wake up in reality. Healthy recovery in next to no time. Ask what happens if you die in reality."
"What happens?" Rory questioned.
"You die, stupid. That's why it's called reality." The Dream Lord answered sarcastically.
"Have you met The Doctor before? Do you know him? Doctor, does he?" Amy asked, looking directly at me.
"Now, don't get jealous. He's been around, our boy. But never mind that, you've got a world to choose." He answered, before turning to me. "One reality was always too much for you, Doctor. Take two and call me in the morning." He said, before disappearing. Y/N and Amy were both staring at me, as Rory commented, "OK, I don't like him."
"You're not the only one." Y/N added in agreement.
"Who is he?" Amy questioned, crossing her arms.
"I don't know." I admitted. "It's a big universe."
"Why is he doing this?" She asked.
"Maybe because he has no physical form." I suggested. "That gets you down after a while, so he's taking it out on folk like us who can touch and eat and feel." I added, pulling off the horrible jumper that the old woman from before had made me try on.
"What does he mean 'deadly danger'? Nothing deadly has ever happened here." Rory asked, as I studied my surroundings and realised something. All the old people were gone. "Aside from a bit of natural wastage, obviously." Rory added.
"They've all gone." I said softly, looking at Amy. "They've all gone." I repeated myself, as Y/N looked around in confusion. I suddenly dashed off, as Y/N ran to catch up with me. I stopped once I'd gotten outside, and spotted more people. A group of children, who appeared to be going up to a large field in front of a large building. Y/N turned to me. "What's going on? Where have they gone?" She asked, looking around for the missing people. "No idea. But they're almost definitely up to something." I answered. "Glad to see you've calmed down a bit." Y/N shrugged her shoulders. "I've made my mind up." She stated simply, and I tilted my head slightly.
"About what?" I asked.
"What's going to happen after this. You don't need me anymore, Doctor. You have both Amy and Rory to keep you company. When this is over, I want to go home." She admitted, as both my hearts stopped. What was she talking about? I couldn't lose her.
"What?" I questioned, as Rory and Amy appeared.
"Why would they leave?" Rory asked, jogging over to us.
"And what did you mean about Mrs Poggit's nice old lady act?" Amy questioned.
"One of my tawdry quirks. Sniffing out things that aren't what they seem." I answered, still staring at Y/N. I had to think of some way to get her to stay. "So, come on! Let's think! The mechanics of this reality split we're stuck in, time asleep matches time in our dream world, unlike conventional dreams." I mused, attempting to focus.
"And we're all dreaming the same dream at the same time." Rory added.
"Yes, some sort of communal trance, very rare. I'm sure there's some sort of dream giveaway, a tell." I ranted. "But my mind isn't working, because this village is so dull!" I snapped, throwing my hands up in frustration. In doing so, I noticed the gold band on my finger. An idea formed in my mind, and I smirked to myself. I knew how to get her to stay. But first I just had to hope I could get us back to the correct reality. And then I had to hope that I could find that box that I had discarded in the TARDIS long ago. And of course, I just hoped that she would say yes. I needed her around. No matter what.
AN: And I'm going to end it there! Thank you for reading; I hope you enjoyed! And I'll see you in the next one!
