AN: I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters. I don't own you either.
Your POV
"Where have the children gone?" The Doctor questioned, as you woke up. As always, you were the last to awaken, as Amy, Rory and The Doctor were already over at the playground. You forced yourself onto your feet, and approached them. "Don't know." Rory answered. "Maybe playtime's over." You studied the field where the children had been, and noticed that beside several brightly coloured backpacks, there seemed to be small piles of sand. The Doctor, curious as ever, dashed over to scan them with the sonic, whilst you idly played with the golden band on your finger. You could hear Amy and Rory talking behind you, but their words were blurred out by the sudden arrival of a new voice in your head. This one was not the one from before, the one you had identified. No, this was colder, and sounded much more taunting. "Hello, Y/N. Don't try to ignore me, I know you can hear me. It's me, your old friend, The Dream Lord." You attempted to ignore the voice, and focus on what was going on around you. Amy and Rory's arguing, The Doctor's musing, the sound of the wind, anything that would help blot it out. "I thought I told you not to do that, Y/N?" The Dream Lord's voice questioned, as you approached The Doctor. He looked up from the sand pile to look at you. "What's wrong?" He asked, apparently seeing a look of distress on your face.
"He's in my head." You replied, and The Doctor immediately understood what you meant. Getting up on his feet, he placed his hands on your shoulders. "Alright, focus on my voice. My voice and nothing else." He instructed. You nodded, as he moved his hands from your shoulders to your cheeks. "Close your eyes." He added, as you obeyed his instruction. You felt him rest his forehead against yours, as another voice sounded in your head, louder than The Dream Lord's. The Doctor's voice was loud, but at the same time, was reassuring. "Alright, can you hear me now?" He questioned, and you nodded. "Ok, now, I can't lock him out of your head permanently, but I'm going to lock a message in your mind. Every time he tries to get you to listen, this message will play and you'll hear my voice." You nodded once again, as he placed two fingers on your temple. After a few moments, he whispered, "You can open your eyes now." You did so, and found his bright green eyes staring into yours. He lightly kissed your forehead, before letting you go and returning to studying the sand. You smiled softly, as Amy and Rory approached you. "What are you two doing? Doctor, what are those piles of dust?" Amy demanded to know, as a look of horror overtook The Doctor's face. "Playtime's definitely over." He stated, as finally you realised what the piles of sand were. "Oh..." You trailed off, looking around. There were so many piles of sand.
"Oh my God..." Amy said horrified.
"What happened to them?" Rory questioned. The Doctor stayed silent, as he noticed something in the distance. He quickly moved forward, as you saw what he was looking at. The missing people from the old people's home were currently stood in the road, appearing like some sort of mob. "I think they did." The Doctor answered, as you raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"But they're just old people." Amy stated.
"No." The Doctor replied. "They're very old people. Sorry, Rory, I don't think you're what's been keeping them alive." He added, as the four of us began to move towards the mob, none of us quite prepared for what was about to happen.
The Doctor's POV
With Y/N and myself in front, we approached the group. Unfortunately as we did, The Dream Lord also appeared. "Hello peasants!" He exclaimed. "What's this, attack of the old people?" He asked, as Y/N glared at him. "Oh, that's ridiculous. This has got to be the dream, hasn't it? What do you think, Amy?" Amy also glared at him, as he continued talking, "Let's all jump under a bus and wake up in the TARDIS!" He looked at Y/N. "You first!"
"Leave her alone." I demanded, stepping in front of Y/N.
"Oh, do that again." The Dream Lord instructed. "I love it when he does that, tall dark, hero thing. Aren't you impressed, Y/N?" Y/N stepped around me, and moved towards him. "Why can't you just leave us alone?" She questioned, and he smirked.
"Because it's fun, Y/N." He answered mockingly. "Tell me, Y/N, are you frightened yet? You understand everything that's going on with you, yes? The voice in your head." I grabbed hold of her wrist to pull her back, and inquired,
"Didn't I tell you to leave her alone?" Y/N stared at him, her attention not breaking for anything.
"You know that it's the time machine talking to you, yes?" The Dream Lord continued. "And the gold dust, well, not even I can explain that." Y/N again stayed silent. I studied her expression, and realised that she understood what he was talking about. And it frightened her. "Y/N, I hope you understand something. You are not the first, and you are not the last. How far do you think he would actually go for you?" He asked.
"Shut up." Y/N instructed. "Just shut up!" I pulled her back, as a menacing look took over The Dream Lord's face.
"Well, we're about to find out." He teased, glancing towards the mob of old people watching us. That was when I became aware that they were moving towards us. When I looked back, The Dream Lord had disappeared.
"Hello!" Amy chorused, attempting to not seem scared.
"We were wondering where you went. To get reinforcements by the seem of things. Are you alright? You seem a bit tense." I asked, as they got within reach of us. And that was when they made their first mistake. One of them grabbed Y/N, whilst another grabbed Rory and sent him flying. Y/N struggled, and kicked out, causing her captor to drop her down into the mud. "How did he do that?" Rory questioned, getting back on his feet. "He's not himself, don't get too comfortable! We may have to run. Fast." I answered, as Y/N shakily got on her feet. She took a step back, giving herself some space form the old people. "Can't we just talk to them?" Amy asked angrily, as I looked at them. That was when they did something that surprised me. An eye, a green eye, appeared in their mouths. "What the hell?" Y/N questioned, staring at the old people in shock. "There's an eye in her mouth!" Amy exclaimed.
"There's a whole creature inside her." I answered, scanning the closest one with my sonic screwdriver. "Inside all of them. They've been here for years, living and waiting."
"That's disgusting! They're not going to be popping out of anywhere else, are they?" Rory questioned, as the closest one to us moved towards Y/N and hissed out a cloud of green gas. I immediately pulled her back, as quickly as I could and instructed Amy and Rory to run. Slowly, they did so, as I studied Y/N. "It didn't touch you, did it?" I questioned, as Y/N shrugged her shoulders. Pressing my hand against her neck, I was horrified to find my hand full of sand. "No..." I breathed, attempting to support her with my arms. "We've got to get out of here."
"Doctor..." Y/N began, as I dragged her away from the crowd. Once we'd gotten a few feet away, Y/N collapsed onto her knees. "I can't go further."
"You have to. They'll catch up to us." I replied, kneeling down to her height as her left hand faded to sand.
"Go." She instructed. "Please. Find Amy and Rory."
"Not without you." I insisted. "Please, Y/N, I've already lost so much. What if this is the real world?" Y/N smiled softly.
"Then you'll still have Amy and Rory." She replied, her voice growing softer. "But before you go, can I have one last thing?" I nodded, attempting to blink away the tears that were now forming in my eyes. "The message you put in my head earlier. What was it?" She questioned, using her remaining hand to wipe away my tears. "If you are thinking about using this girl's mind to hurt her, don't even dream of it. Because this girl is mine. If you cause her to become frightened for even a moment, I will make you regret it. This girl belongs to the Time Lord called The Doctor, and she is my incredible human. You harm a hair on her head, and we'll have a problem. Because I love her. I love her more than anything I've ever known. She is more beautiful than every star, and more remarkable than anyone I've ever met. And if I could, I would scream that at the top of my lungs, because she has to know that. She has to know how special she is to me." Tears appeared in Y/N's eyes, as she pressed her lips against mine. "I love you too, you mad man with a box. Now, go and find Amy and Rory." She requested. I pushed our lips together one last time, as I got on my feet to run before the creatures found me. Before I did, I softly whispered a few words. "The Dream Lord is going to pay for this."
