53: Uh no

(Had an issue where last chapter is unpublished and with nothing written on it)

"Steve!"

Steve didn't have to hear Herobrine to see Lai heading straight for him. Her face turns into a diabolical smile when she knows Steve couldn't escape.

Lai's claws were inches away from him. He shut his eyes, bracing himself for the pain.

There was nothing.

"S... Steve..." Someone muttered.

Huh..?

Steve opens his eyes. He was in another area now. Layla was in front of him.

"Layla.?"

Layla suddenly crumbles and Steve caught her in his arms.

"Layla! What... how... what happened?!"

"Tele.. portation.." Layla whispered. "Lai was.. going to kill you.."

"No.." Steve's eyes started to water, realizing that Layla must have saved him from Lai and ended up getting hurt in the progress. "No.. no.. Layla.. why did you do that?!"

Layla smiles softly. "I'm sorry.." She whispered. "I couldn't.. I can't let the boat sink.."

"What are you talking about?!" Steve exclaimed. "Layla.. you can't.. Please don't do this to me..."

There was no answer. Steve slowly set Layla down on the ground. "No..."

"Steve!" Steve turns to see Naomi and Zoey running towards him. "Are you alright?" She slows down, frowning. "Wh-what's wrong?"

"Guys.. Layla..." Steve sniffled. "She... she's gone.."

Naomi came over , blinking as she looks down at Layla. "Layla, wake up." She nudges her with her shoe.

"H-hey that's no way to treat the dead!" Steve exclaimed. "You have to respect them."

Zoey and Naomi seems confused, looking at each other then back to Steve. "What are you saying?"

Steve looks back at Layla, realizing that she wasn't injured in anyway. "She... she passed out?!"

Steve felt greatly relieved as he let out a breath. "I really thought she was a goner.. Where is everyone else?"

"They went to save Sophia." Naomi answered. "And.. Herobrine.. he's.."

Herobrine! Steve had almost forgotten about him. "We should go help him."

"Herobrine no need help.." Zoey mumbled.

Steve looks around him, trying to spot where Lai and Herobrine are. He found the two closely together, seemingly dicussing something.

"Huh.. they're not fighting?"

Maybe Lai surrendered.. Steve thought. But watching the two, Herobrine seems to be laughing.

What is going on..?!

"Why did Herobrine call you Steve?"

"He must have said it by accident." Steve said. "It's okay, no one suspects that I'm -" He stops, realizing that voice didn't belong to Zoey or Naomi. He turns to see Lilith, glaring at him.

"L-Lilith?!"
