Emily POV

Police swarmed the gala. I was escorted outside by Jim and Harvey. The paramedics gave me a blanket and some water. I was trembling so badly that Jim had to hold me. From the crowd of reporters and cameramen, I saw the man who stabbed Jerome emerge after talking to them. He began to walk towards me. I buried my head on Jim's shoulder to avoid talking to him. "Excuse me, miss. My name is Theo Galavan. I'd like to extend an apology to you in regards to that nasty business." My blood began to boil. Nasty business? I stood up and I looked at him, straight in his cold and calculating eyes. "That 'nasty business' you so described was my husband and the father of my unborn child. I want him back, you worthless son-of-a-bitch!" With one swift move, I punched Theo in the face, breaking his nose. Gasps were heard from reporters and others. Jim immediately jumped up and held me back. I even tried to kick his legs but I was held back. "Emily, stop it!" Jim yelled. I stopped squirming and I was let go. Theo was picked up off the floor, gasping for air. "No wonder he married you. You're crazy!" Of course, I could never shut up. I replied with, "And you're gonna wish you were never born when you mess with me, you oily bastard!" Harvey picked me off the ground and took me to my car with Jim. "Hey, hey! Threats won't bring him back. This ends now. He's dead. He's never coming back. Emily, please accept it." Harvey says to me. Wiping the tears from my eyes, I shake my head in response. I walk away from Jim and Harvey without giving saying goodbye. I go into my car, and I started to drive off; seeing Jim, Harvey, and everyone else growing smaller in the distance. My heart was broken. I felt nothing. Memories of Jerome were swirling around in my head. I needed him. I want him. I love him. Jerome, please come back.

6 Months Later

Everyday went by slowly. Jerome's funeral came and went and not long after the funeral, Aunt Matilda was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and was given 2 months to live. She died  soon after. After the events of the hospital gala, I was called by a man named Alfred Pennyworth, the butler for Bruce Wayne. Bruce had felt bad about my situation and wanted to give me a job as his personal secretary at Wayne Manor. I would have my own room, car, great pay, and my children would be taken care of. Yes, children. I found out at my checkup that I was expecting twins. I immediately accepted the job. I sold Aunt Matilda's house, stored the money I made in an account, and left for Wayne Manor. Aside from my personal matters, Jim Gordon was arrested for killing Theo Galavan and an officer from Gotham's Strike Force named Carl Pinkney. I only visited Jim once, only because he asked me to. Something wasn't right. Jim would never kill anyone, much less kill the mayor and a police officer. I personally wished that I killed Galavan. "Ms. Valeska?" Alfred calls. I lower my newspaper and head to the kitchen, carrying my notepad. Even though Bruce and Alfred told me to rest, I felt useless just sitting and resting. I had to move. Granted, Bruce was living on the streets with his friend, Selina Kyle. I still had work to do around the house. Luckily, my luck was about to change. I heard a deep voice coming from the kitchen. "Jim?" I say in disbelief. Jim looks at me, dressed in a robe sipping on some coffee. "Emily." Jim jumps up and rushes to hug me. We hug for about 7 seconds until he realizes that he's somewhat squishing me. "I thought you were locked up." I exclaim. "I was, until I broke out." Jim continued to explain that he was set up by Edward Nygma for no reason. Alfred decided to chime in. "Right, so answer me this, Detective. Do you have any idea how you're gonna get out of this awful pickle?" Jim looked at me and back at Alfred, saying, "Yes, I do."

An Hour Later
I arrive with Selina at the police station. The idea was to go and talk to Edward while Selina spoke to Sergeant Barnes and Detective Bullock. As Selina began to talk to both Harvey and Barnes, I acted nonchalant and walked by them to talk to Edward. He was nervous, listening to them and immediately ran to the back. I followed him and was able to see him running to the locker room. Upon walking up to the room, I could hear him saying, "That's a 60% chance of Gordon finding Kristen. That settles it." He said her name. I got him now! Edward opens the door and sees me standing there. "Emily." He says breathlessly. "E-Edward. What a surprise. I was looking for Detective Harvey." Edward looks downward at my stomach. I wasn't that big but it was noticeable. "When are you due?" "3 weeks to go. I'm counting down." I smile weakly. I could see that his hand was trembling with anxiety. "S-S-So, I can come and look for Harvey later. I'll see you around. Bye, Ed." I say and Edward waves slowly at me. I quickly rush out, signaling to Selina that I was leaving. Unfortunately, Barnes was keeping her occupied. I still walked away and was heading to my car. Something felt uneasy though. I felt like I was followed. I turn to look but there was no one. Suddenly, Edward was standing in front of me. "You are such a bad liar." He says coldly. He sprays a substance in my face and I fall into his arms. The last thing I saw before falling into unconsciousness was Edward placing me in the back of my car before driving away.
