Chapter 26-Victor Zsasz

Emily POV

For several weeks, I have been going to Hugo for helping to harness my powers. The training has been good so far. Hugo hasn't asked for the favor yet so I'm okay. I even kept my promise to myself and I headed back to Princeton and finished my exams. I passed all my exams and graduated Summa Cum Laude in my class. After 6 weeks, I've already completed my training. I leave Arkham and head back home. I've been good, trying to maintain my children and home life. I decide to head downtown to grab a bite to eat. I see a small sandwich shop and stop there. As I'm walking in, I see a familiar face. "Oswald?" The man turns around and it's him. "Emily! My darling friend!" I walk up to him and hug him. Most of the patrons of the restaurant were in shock to see me hugging him. "What are you doing in this shabby town?" Oswald asks me. "I was just walking by and I decided to get a sandwich to go. I'm heading back home." Oswald looks over my shoulder and says, "I'd love to stay but this new bodyguard I have is very...protective." I turn over and I see a bald man wearing a purple shirt, black suspenders, black pants, and black shoes. He looked at me with a puzzled look. "He looks scary as hell." I joke. Oswald smiles. "How's life? I heard about your husband. Please accept my apologies." I place my hand on Oswald's arm in response. "I'm doing okay but I feel great though. I had my children five weeks ago." Oswald looked interested. "I had twins. A boy and a girl. They're my everything now." Oswald looks over my shoulder and says, "Victor is getting antsy. Here's my card. If you ever need help or a job, call me and I'll set it up for you." I hug Oswald again and he walks away. I then go back to the counter and order my food.

Later That Day

After I made it home, I decided to give baths to Jerome and Selina. Both of them love the water a lot. After drying and dressing them, I feed them. Both of them are fussy and adorable. I can't stop laughing when Selina tries to eat the bubbles. Thank God for those baby books and classes. Bruce had bought me some bouncy seats for the twins to place them in for the time being. I was alone in the manor. I'm in the living room and suddenly, I hear the window open. I look up and I see the same man that was with Oswald. He walks in and just looks at me. I get up and hold my hand up. The man smirks. "What? Are you going to use the force on me? Use a mind-" He starts gagging. He then begins to levitate off the ground; hands grasping at his neck. "What the hell do you want?" I growl. The man is unable to talk. A dumb idea in the first place but I needed to show him who was the boss. I had no choice but to let him fall. He then was gasping for air. After adjusting himself, the man gets up and says, "I saw you with Oswald today. I had to see if you're a threat. I can see you are." He pulls a gun from his waist and I instantly pull the gun towards me and I aim the gun at him. He chuckles and says, "I guess you are. The name is Victor Zsasz. You?" I close the door with a wave of my hand, lock it, and walk over to Victor. "Emily Valeska. Why are you here?" Victor walks close to me and says, "A little birdie told me that you were well-powered. I think that with some training, hard work, and discipline, you'll be able to work with me as an assassin. I can teach you and show you the ways of an assassin." I look at him, puzzled. An assassin? I could never be an assassin. "What do you mean, Zsasz?" I ask him. "You heard me correctly, Emily. I can teach you how to fight and defend yourself. I'll make you into the world's most feared assassin. No one will ever walk over you again. You will be in charge." The idea sounds amazing. All of my life, I listened to orders. Now, I make the rules. I want to be strong for my children. They need a strong and independent mother who can kick ass and cook dinner by 6:45. I look at Victor and say, "I'll do it. But I have some rules." Victor nodded and beckons me to finish. "I want to continue my work with Bruce Wayne, my children come first, and I will only use my powers if need be. Otherwise, I want to learn how to fight with my hands, knives, guns, and archery." Victor looks at me and says, "No one has ever asked for archery but I will teach you. Never hurts to have an extra skill." Jerome Jr. starts cooing so I rush to him. I pick him up and hold him. Selina is in her seat and she's playing with a plush puppy, giggling at the faces Victor is making. "I don't want to be an absent mother. I can't be gone for long." Victor picks up Selina and says, I understand. Your children are beautiful and I understand they need you. I won't make it difficult for you." With that in mind, I decided to work with Victor Zsasz. To some, it's not good but for me its an opportunity to learn how to defend myself and my family.
