Chapter 23-Dr. Hugo Strange

Ethel Peabody POV

"This girl is Jerome Valeska's wife. Are you sure that you want to try out the Legion Extract on her?" I ask. Dr. Hugo Strange looks at me and says, "I've read this girls tragic story in the Gotham Gazette. It's so heartbreaking that this girl has been trampled and left with nothing. She should have the power to do whatever she wants and terrify who she wants. The ultimate and unlimited power she'll have. Yes, she deserves the Legion Extract." We both walk over to where the young girl was. She was sound asleep. The doctors ready to perform surgery to deliver the babies. Hugo places his surgical gown and looks over at the girl, Emily. She looks very peaceful.

Emily POV

"Mrs. Valeska? Are you awake, my dear?" My eyes slowly fluttered to see a bald man with pink glasses and a smirk on his face. "Who are you?" I ask. He places his hands on each side of my face. "I'm Dr. Hugo Strange. I'm here to help you and your children. Just relax and let me do all the work. Rest, my dear."

Hallucination State

I'm back at the circus. I see all the trailers, the rides, and I can smell all of the food. "Emily!" I turn to see Jerome, beckoning me to go with him. It's the night we had our date when he first kissed me. "I'm sorry for everything, my love. Always know that I love you forever." He pulls me in his arms and holds me close. I can smell his cologne and feel his warm body. Everything feels so natural. I never want this moment to end. Jerome lifts my face to look at his, he then places a kiss on my lips. The kiss is so passionate. Then, the scene disappears. I'm thrusted to the Gotham Hospital gala. I can see Jerome and I having a showdown. He smirks with such evilness but I know that deep down, he is good. Theo Galavan then stabs Jerome and I scream. I can see myself running to him, pushing Theo out of the way to hold Jerome's wound. "You are the love of my life. Goodbye Emily." He says with his last breath. My heart plunges. I scream again with anguish. Jerome is gone again and I had to relive this over and over.

Dr. Hugo Strange POV

The poor child is dreaming. If only I could see what she sees. I can see tears streaming down her face. "Doctor, here's the extract. Are you sure? You've worked very hard on this serum." I look at Emily and say, "I've never been so damn sure of anything in my life. Do it." Ms. Peabody places the serum into the IV bag. The blue liquid slowly drips into her system, causing her to slightly jolt. Her eyes open suddenly to reveal white eyes. The serum is working. "Ms. Peabody, its time to deliver the babies." Minutes later, the children are crying and are healthy. There's no telling when their abilities will develop but their mother is an exception. Her powers are in full strength. We clean and clothe the babies as we wake up the lovely mother. "Ms. Valeska, your babies are here already. Wake up."

Emily POV

My body and head feel weird. I wake up in a hospital room with two cribs near my bed. I look over and see both my children. It's a boy and a girl. A smile and tears erupt from my face. I can't stop crying as I am reminded that Jerome isn't with me. I try to get out of bed but my legs fail me. I try to grab onto the rails but I feel a wave of electricity in me. I then call for the nurse with the button, only for the button to electrically fry when I touch it. I gasp, not aware of what is happening. "You're awake, that's good." I turn to see that its Dr. Hugo Strange and Dr. Ethel Peabody walking in.  I sit back down on the bed, looking at my children. "Where's Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock? They were waiting for me." I demand. "We asked them to leave since you were recuperating. Besides, we think that the serum is working perfectly with your DNA. You seem responsive and healthy." Hugo says with a smirk. What serum? "What are you talking about? Serum?" Ethel tries to get close to my children and I got in between her and then, I instinctively held my hand up to block her and electric bolts flew from my hands and hit the wall. I gasp loudly and think to myself, What the hell is this? "I hope you like your powers, Ms. Valeska." Hugo says to me, with a sadistic grin.
