Damien was sitting alone on a bench, talking with Patton. Kids gave him weird looks, even though they didn't knew he was talking to someone, but Damien ignored them.
Patton was happy that the boy talked more."Tomorrow I'm gonna go with Lo...", the kid said while drawing his picture.
"Oh? And why?", Patton asked curious, trying to get a look at it every now and then but Damien always hid the drawing so the dad eventually gave up.
"He's a better teacher than my teacher... I like listening to him more", the boy said smiling, making Patton grin.
"Oh he's gonna be so happy to hear that!""Hey, Who are you talking to?"
Damien looked up. There in front of him was the black haired bossy girl with her two friends from the orphanage. The boy quickly looked down again.
"N-no one..."
Patton noticed that he started stuttering again.
The brunette girl that was standing right next to the bossy girl grabbed Damien's drawing."What the fuck is this?"
Patton gasped in shock. She was about ten years old, how does she know such horrible words?
The girl turned the drawing around so he could finally see what his boy was doing all the time. It was far from finished but you could still recognise the two people. It was Thomas and Damien, snuggled up under a blanket and seemingly watching something an TV. Patton grinned widely. It looked so adorable! But his grin quickly faded at the girls next action."This looks so ugly, nearly as ugly as you!"
And then she just ripped the drawing. Patton stared at her in shock.
"Loser!", the bossy girl said while the other two kids in the group laughed before the three of them left the now crying boy alone.Patton quickly hugged Damien and gently stroke his back.
"These kids don't know what they're saying. They're just jealous"
Damien's soft sobs broke Pattons heart. How can children be so cruel? Especially in that age?"Come on kiddo, let's get to the bathroom and wash your face of, yeah?"
Damien nodded and let Patton lead him to the bathroom. When they got there, the boy washed the tear strains off of his red face and calmed down a little. Patton, knowing that Damien likes the silence, kept quiet and watched the boy do so.A few minutes went by until Damien broke the silence. "Thanks Da..ton"
Patton raised an eyebrow confused. The boy looked at him until he came up with an idea. The man liked jokes, right?
"Daton?"
Damien nodded. "Dad-ton"Instant regret. Was it to early? Didn't he like jokes? Was he going to be mad and yell at him? Was he going to punish him? Hurt him? But nothing like that happened. The man started grinning and squealed. He hugged Damien who flinched at first but then smiled himself. It's okay, he told himself.
The two were interrupted by the bell.
"Come on kiddo, time to go to class!"
