"We're going to talk about this later", Logan said sternly, well knowing that Damien isn't able to talk right now. The three kids in front of them looked confused at this different language, but left anyway since the teacher arrived.
The day seemed to stretch endlessly and even though the beginning wasn't the best, Logan still made sure Damien knew he wasn't in much trouble by explaining the things he didn't understood and talking to him in the breaks. The boy really appreciated these gestures and smiled a few times.
With Logan's encouragement, he even raised his hand for a question!
But classes had to end eventually so now the two of them were waiting at the parking lot. "So...you know German?", Logan asked, making Damien sigh. Of course this talk had to come. The boy nodded.
"How comes?"
Damien was silent for a while until he finally spoke up.
"My Mommy was German", he said, not looking at the man next to him. Logan nodded to show his understanding. He was sure that Damien's parents were a sensitive topic, seeing that something must have happened.
That's when Thomas drove into the parking lot and Damien's face lit up on instant. Logan had to smile at this behaviour, glad that the kid had let the family into his heart.
"Hey there champ", Thomas smiled when Damien opened the door. Damien grinned at him. "Hey Dad!" Thomas' smile widened and if this was Steven Universe, the man would've had stars in his eyes. Logan entered the car too and they drove off.
When the three guys arrived at home, Logan looked at Damien. "Even though no one else understood it, I want you to not repeat these words, okay? At least wait until you're, like, thirteen, okay?" The boy sighed and nodded in agreement.
Thomas looked at them confused. Logan coughed into it. "Apparently Damien knows German"
Thomas looked at the boy surprised and then smiled. "Wow, that's really impressive!", he said, smiling. Damien's face reddened a little, still not used to getting praised.
The three males entered their home and greeted the big family.
After everyone was calm again and returned to their doings before the little group arrived, Logan crouched down on Damien's level. "Hey, do you want to know a secret?"
Damien nodded curiously and looked at Logan expectingly.
"I know German and another language too. I learned it to swear around Patton. But don't tell him"
Damien had to giggle slightly and nodded in agreement. Logan smiled at the boy and stood back up.
"Come on, let's eat and then do your homework"
Damien grumbled a little at the thought of his homework's but didn't argue about it.
