The next day, Damien came down with a Virgil-Shirt, his beloved Ravenclaw cardigan and normal black jeans. When he sat down for breakfast, Virgil smiled, glad that he wasn't the kids last choice. Roman was a little offended though.
Damien kept the tradition of drowning his toast in Crofters going and ate happily with his family. After the breakfast was finished, Virgil looked at the clock and stood up. "We gotta go, don't wanna be late now, do we?"Thomas smiled and stood up. "Yeah, you're right. Ready for Wednesday Damien?"
Asked boy nodded with a sigh, not ready at all. "We'll See you later kiddo!", Patton smiled at the boy encouragingly and Damien nodded. The boy grabbed his backpack off the sofa like it's been routine by now, before he waved a good bye at the rest of his family. Virgil and Thomas followed the boy outside and to the car."Bye boys! See you later", Thomas said when the two left the car, ruffling Damien's hairs again, making the kid giggle. The two adults smiled at the kid. "Bye dad!", Damien said, leaving with Virgil. Thomas smiled and drove off while the two boys entered the school building.
"So, bullies, huh?", Virgil said, trying to start a conversation. Damien looked at him with a tilted head.
"Okay, not a good topic, got it"Damien held back a giggle, since other human beings were now with him in the halls. Virgil took notice of the suppressed grin and smiled a little, glad he didn't already fuck up on his day with the kid.
When they reached the classroom, Damien quickly sat down at his usual seat. Virgil leaned over his shoulder and watched, as the kid took out the stuff for his first lesson and some stuff to draw. Virgil watched his doing curiously while Damien began to draw his family again. The boy redrew the picture that got destroyed on Monday, smiling. But this time he made a much bigger blanket and all of his family members were there.Virgil just had to smile. Both boys ignored the teacher and Damien simply continued to draw. There was just such a peaceful atmosphere about this picture, it was beautiful on its own.
"Damien."
The boys head shot up while the class began to snicker. His cheeks flushed pink in embarrassment.
"Can you answer my question?"
Damien looked at his teacher puzzled, to afraid to ask her to repeat it. He looked at the board but as he tried to read the words so he would at least have a clue what was going on, the order of the letters didn't make any sense to him and he couldn't register any words.
The boy just looked at his desk with the drawing in shame. By now the teacher reached his desk and she too saw the picture. Her eyebrows raised up and she took the picture."What the- Hey, that's not yours!", Virgil said, before remembering the teacher couldn't hear him and hissed at her.
"Next time, pay better attention and stop drawing in my lessons", she said sternly, before walking back to her desk. The class was still laughing.
