Chapter 19: Alec

Third Person

The doorbell rang, signifying that Alec was at the door, the house was quiet for it was only mid afternoon. Bella went to the door, her hand on the doorknob, trying to muster the best fake smile she had, and opened the door.

“Alec, welcome. Please come in.” Bella greeted, Alec stepping into the cottage, looking around the small hallway and into the living room where Edward Amanda were watching T.V.

“You have a lovely home, Bella.” Alec praised.

Bella smiled, thanking him; said, “Follow me.” And walked to the living room.

“Mandy?” Bella asked, her youngest daughter who was comfortably sitting on the couch a cartoon with her father.

She looked over her shoulder, standing up on the coach to get a better look at things. She gasped in surprise at seeing Alec. Mandy jumped from the couch and ran to him, Alec picking her up instantly.

“Awec, you came.” She said ecstatically, hugging him the best she could with her tiny arms.

“I never break a promise.” He murmured, kissing her forehead.

Edward and Bella just watch them; even though Amanda was a toddler she was showing signs of maturing just like her sister. Making her seem like a little person more than a toddler. Alec; they knew what he was capable of, they knew what he could, but now looking at him interacting with Mandy, maybe they could have a second opinion.

“Well Alec, why don’t you have a seat, and we’ll chat for a bit.” Bella gestured to the love seat. Walking over to Edward and sitting next him, Alec walked briskly over to the love seat, Amanda still in his arms.

“Lillian, come here?” Edward called Amanda by her middle name, knowing it would more effective in getting her over to her parents.

“No.” She said loudly, shaking her head.

“Please, get over here.” He said more sternly.

“Nu uh, I won’t move.” She said mater of factly, crossing her arms.

“Edward, I think she’s fine.” Bella intervened, elbowing him in the rib.

“Yeah Edward, she’s fine.” Alec said in a smart alec tone.

“Don’t push your luck, Volturi.” Edward clenched his teeth, Bella taking ahold of his hand and squeezing it tightly.

“That’s enough the both of you; now Alec before you get a huge brawl, I would like to know one thing…why did it take you two years to find us?”

Alec looked into space for a few minutes, than looked back Edward and Bella, ”You want the full story?” He finally asked.

“Yes.” They both said at the same time, getting very frustrated that he wasn’t telling them anything.

“I left The Volturi within a year after the fight, they wouldn’t let me leave earlier because they said that they need me for another year. After that I left, I never looked back. I than continued my journey to New York where I lived there for six months than I moved here.”

 “I’ve been here since. I knew where you lived, I knew how to get here. I just didn’t know when the right time would be to come by, and tell you.” Alec finished telling them what happened within the past two years.

“Did you tell the Volturi about you know?” Edward tried asking without saying ‘mate’ or ‘matting’ around Mandy. Bella and Edward had agreed to tell her about that but not for many more years to come.

“Yes, and they agreed to not interfere; unless they absolutely needed to.” Alec answered, looking at Amanda in thought, who was sucking her thumb as if nothing was going on.

Bella and Edward looked at each other skeptically, most likely having a mental argument or agreement. Even though they both didn’t approve of this, they knew they couldn’t stop it. They would just had to get used to the fact that Alec was going to be here probably just as much Jake would be 

“Look, I’m only here to say that I want to be a part of your daughters life. And if you cant except that than…” Alec looked into space, not finishing his sentence.

“Than what exactly?” Edward growled, looking like he was about to pounce on Alec if it weren’t for Amanda sitting on his lap.

Alec just looked at him, than within a split second, Amanda was by her mother and Edward had Alec against the wall his hand under his throat, “You wouldn’t dare.” He seethed.

“Try me.” Alec spit back.

You could hear Edward’s growl from across the room, maybe even outside if you listened closely. He let go of Alec but than pushed him up the wall again, “Try anything…anything…and you will be dead. Mark my words.” Edward let go and went back to Bella and Amanda.

“Fine, we will let you see her…but only on these conditions.” Edward complied, calming down with Bella taking ahold of his shoulder.

“Which is?” Alec asked blankly.

“You only see her when we, the rest of the family or Jacob is present.”

“K.”

“ You may not stay the night, only be here during the day.” Bella spoke.

“Understandable.” Alec nodded.

“If want to take her somewhere, one of us or a member of the family will accompany you.”

“And lastly, if you do try to kidnap her, we will be notified immediately.” Edward warned.

“Why so many rules?” Alec asked, rolling his eyes.

“Because you’re ignorant, and we don’t trust you.” The two parents said simultaneously 

“Deal.” Alec brought out his hand for them to shake, but they just looked at it as if it was alien. Instead Amanda gave him a side high five.

This made Alec smile at her and in turn she gave him a goofy smile back.
