It pained you more than you could ever imagine seeing Carol fight for her life each and every day, weak and stripped of her powers. For the little time you had with her you've grown fond of that woman and hurting her was tearing you apart. You wanted to visit her, to take her of her wounds and tell her how sorry you are, but didn't have the courage to face her

Coward

You grimace in pain when Carol's opponent landed a powerful punch to her face, making her fall to the ground. She couldn't use any of her powers to fight back, the Grandmaster made sure of that. He claimed that with her powers she was unbeatable and people longed for a good fight, so, before any match, he would activate the device on her neck, electrocuting her and weakening her. He couldn't take her powers but he could rend her weak enough to not being able to use them.

You grimace again when her opponent, a bulgy, merciless alien, began to kick her repeatedly in the stomach, preventing her to get up and fight back. it was torture to watch and you damned yourself for taking her to the Grandmaster in the first place. Fear clenched your heart when the alien threw her to the other side of the arena, crushing her to the wall, her broken body laying on the ground. She always came out victorious of her fights, but you had a very bad feeling she will not come out of this one alive.

The crowd cheered for the alien to end her life, other began to chant her warrior name

"Captain Marvel! Captain Marvel! Captain Marvel!"

but she was still not moving. Your body began to shake. Your legs tingled from how bad you wanted to go down there and shake her awake, to go down there and help her get out of this place. But you couldn't. Just a single wrong move and the Grandmaster would kill you instantly, without a second thought, even if you were his most trusted follower.

Coward

You clenched your fists and looked away, not having the guts to look at her being beat down to death. It was your fault if she was there and you really wished it were you in her place, taking all the blows, because it was what you deserved.

The crowd continued to cheer as the alien took his time to gloat over his victory, while Carol was still on the ground, motionless. For what felt like forever, the alien turned around to face her again, and slowly began to near her and put an end to this fight.

You could feel your heart thumping faster and faster, your mind screaming at you to just do something. You couldn't let her die.

"CAROL!" you suddenly screamed over the crowd "CAROL!"

"What are you doing?" Valkyre asked with wide eyes, looking back and forth from the Grandmaster to you.

"She needs to wake up! He's going to kill her! CAROL!" you frantically screamed and prayed to the gods above to save her soul and take yours instead

Just as he was about to give his final blow, your body moved on its own and you jumped down in the arena. The crowd's cheers grew louder and you thanked whoever was looking down on you for not making the Grandmaster kill you the moment you insanely jumped down

The crowd's cheer stopped the alien from ending Carol's life and turn to you, mad at you for taking his spotlight. You quickly draw you sword from its holder and charge at him, rage consuming your every cell. All you could see was red as you slashed the alien's torso and ducked when he threw a punch your way. Before you could hit him again, he took you by your neck and began to squeeze. He smashed you times and times again against the ground, making you lose hold of your sword, your head spinning and hurting. He, just like he did with Carol, threw you against the wall, that's when you heard a sickening crack and an excruciating pain in your left leg. Fortunately, your back was intact, just very sore.
