Finding your brother turned out to be harder than you imagined, but you managed to reunite with him and were glad to find that he was fine. It's already been a day and you had to reach the south of the Island in two days so to not miss the randevous point to get out of that damned place. Your relationship with Mason was growing, you could feel it. She was comfortable with you and always found a reason to be by your side and hold your hand. You sure didn't miss all the smiles and her face blushing every time you would openly flirt with her, your heart fluttering at the thought of her feeling the same connection you did.
Although it's been a day, everything went smoothly. No dangerous encounters with terrifying creatures or with the gigantic gorilla, but even though it was a good thing, you couldn't shake away the thought that something bad was bound to happen.
After being found by the people living on the Island and meeting Marlow, the missing pilot you've heard about, you crashed to their village for a few hours, Mason taking the opportunity to take some photos, managing to get those people to smile. Somehow that didn't surprise you, the woman had the gift to make anyone smile, just how you were doing right now, taking her in and watching her interact with the island people.
"Be careful, sis. Your gayness is showing." James's voice said startling you and making you smack him on his arm.
He laughed at your reaction and put his arm around your shoulders, ruffling your hair.
"James! Stop!" he let you go and gave you a kiss on the cheek, making you whine in disgust.
"Good to know it's showing 'cause I want her to know." you say, glaring playfully at him and wiping the spot where he kissed you.
"You like her don't you?" he asks you with a soft smile, making you blush in response and confirming his doubts.
You didn't say anything, you just turned towards her again, only to see her get outside the wall surrounding the village, making you frown. You left your brother to Slivko and followed her outside, ready for everything that could happen. When you reached her, you saw her trying to free a huge animal stuck under one of the helicopters you came with. You shook your head and ran to her, helping her lift the plane but to no vain.
Just as you were about to give one last push, the helicopter was lifted up by something, the animal free to go. Mason and you both looked up to meet he huge monkey from yesterday glaring down at you. You immediately positioned yourself in front of Mason, your hand finding her, trying to calm her down just like she did on the helicopter. The monkey seemed to notice the gesture and tilted its head to the side, intrigued. You frowned, wondering why it wasn't squishing you to your death and then let out a sigh of relief when it left.
You turned towards Mason and hugged her, feeling her shake in your arms.
"It's ok. We are fine. You're fine." you soothed her.
............
After that weird but terrifying encounter with Kong, as the people from here called him, Marlow took his time to explain how wrong were your opinions on the monkey and how it wasn't him you had to be scared of.
"So you're telling me it wasn't Kong who killed your friend?" you asked Marlow as he showed you around the cave, filled with images of Kong and other creatures.
"Oh,no. It wasn't him. One of those things did." he replied, pointing to an image drawn on a rock behind you.
James, Mason and you all turned around to see what he was pointing at, seeing something that shook you to the core, a creature even more terrifying than Kong himself.
"Kong guards on the island. Keeping the devil away from us." you turned back to him.
"And what are the called?" James asked.
