You couldn't take your eyes off of her. She was shining brighter than any star in the universe under the flashlights of many cameras. You swore you could feel your eyes burning while staring at her.
She was so graceful in her movements she looked like a queen. Her hands slowly moved from her face to her hips, posing for the cameras, her muscles flexing at every move. Your mouth was suddenly dry and you could feel your heart thumping against your chest from how fast it was beating. She was breathtaking.
Her lips were tilted up forming a little smile when her eyes landed on you, her smile growing in size as she lifted a hand your way, silently asking you to join her. You broke out of your trance and shakily made your way towards her, her arm wrapping around your waist, holding you close to her.
"You look wonderful, tonight." you whispered in her ear, your breath tickling on her neck. You swore you felt her shiver next to you.
She turned away from the cameras to facing you, her smile ever so bright as she looked softly down at you.
"Thank you, Y/N." she replied, her voice barely over a whisper you almost didn't hear her with all the paparazzi screaming her name.
You smiled and froze when her gaze fell down to your lips only to go back to the paparazzi in front of her as quick as lightning, a white toothed smile flashing for the paparazzi. Your cheeks felt like they were on fire but you tried to compose yourself so not to appear flushed by Brie's warm body pressed against yours.
You let out a sigh and put on a smile so big anyone could tell you were faking it. What you felt for Brie was something that went over your friendship, way more deeper than that. You have known her since your high school days and you walked with her through her rise to fame, helping her face the ups and downs that came with it. You are so proud of the woman she is today and how far she's come. She was your best friend and you were afraid that the feelings you had for her could ruin everything. That is why you unconsciously started to slowly push her way, finding any excuse to spend less and less time with her. If you weren't friends anymore, maybe you could finally go back to breath again and move on... What an idiot you were.
With you so deep in your thoughts, you didn't notice her looking back at you and frown at your facade. Brie could sense something was wrong, she was your best friend, and she has felt it for a while now. She knew you were pushing her away but she wouldn't give up on your friendship so easily. She wouldn't give up on you. Of course she was oblivious to your true feelings towards her, just as you were oblivious to her true feelings towards you, but unlike you, she didn't push you away and made sure to drag you anywhere she went, needing you in her life.
If only you could see that she was trying so hard to tell you how much she loved you, maybe you wouldn't push her away. Of course she was scared of ruining your friendship, too. That is why she always was so subtle. She would leave hits here and there hoping you would catch up, but your heart was so clouded by your mind that you never really noticed.
She stared at you for a few more seconds and sighed before taking your hand and giving it a light squeeze, letting you know she was there and always will be before tugging you along towards the theater.
....
"Y/N?" she kept knocking and knocking, waiting for you to answer your door.
You two were supposed to attend some award you didn't honestly remember and honestly didn't care. All you could think about were those photos.
