Their faces all collectively dropped.

"What the fuck?!" Alejandro exclaimed softly before taking out his phone.

Kairi only stared at his phone with watery eyes as he felt a lump form in his throat. Jeez, he hated the fact the he was so sensitive.

"Hey...you okay?" Alvaro asked quietly to which Kairi only nodded, knowing that if he tried to speak he would surely break down.

And through his blurry vision he saw what Alejandro
had just texted.

Group chat:
Mattia (red): guys I have something to tell you

Mattia (red): I'm dating Jenna again.

Alejandro (green): dude...

Roshaun (light red): uh

Robert (orange): wasn't your last breakup bad?

Mattia (red): again, that was a year ago

Mattia (red): we've talked about it and decided that we should try again

Alejandro (green): Idk man

Mattia (red): well I do so don't worry about it. Where's Kai?

Kairi (blue): good for you

Is all the boy replied with before tossing his phone on the bed and getting up, saying a quiet "I'm going to the bathroom" before entering.

As soon as he closed the door tears fell down his face and a silent sob made its way from out of his mouth. Kairi sled down the door and pulled his legs against him before laying his head on his knees, the small boys facial expression melting into one of pure sadness as his lips pulled down into a deep frown.

The reality of his situation seemed to finally hit him as he realized that Mattia would never be his and there was nothing that he could do about it. You like who you like which Kairi knew all too well. Deep down the boy knew that Mattia and Jenna probably weren't going to last long but that didn't matter.

Everyone knew that Kairi and Jenna never liked each other, for obvious reasons. Mattia was his best friend, they did everything together and were close in a way not a lot of people understood which Jenna absolutely hated. She was scared that Mattia would choose Kairi over her, but after they started dating everyone realized that that might not be the case.

And the small boy feared that the younger boy would start distancing himself again, not wanting to be too close, not wanting to make TikToks together, nor hanging out at each other's house. Nothing.

The thought made Kairi even more sad and his face crumpled up as more tears made their way down his face. He got up and turned to face the mirror, his face a clear reflection of what he was feeling inside. Kairi's eyes were bloodshot, his face flushed a light pink, nose stuffed and red. The lights from above showcasing his tear stained cheeks. He looked like a mess. He looked broken.

Kairi wiped away the evidence of his heartbreak and turned on the faucet before putting his hands under it to catch some water before quickly splashing it onto his face before it was able to disappear from the spaces in between his fingers.

He turned the faucet off and sighed, looking down onto the counter. He needed to get over Mattia, because the only thing he was going to get out of this was pain. That's all unrequited feelings brought.

"You'll be fine Kairi." He whispered to himself before clearing his throat and looking at himself in the mirror one more time.

The boy let out a small exhale and exited the bathroom, being instantly met with a hug from Alejandro which Kairi quickly melted into as he wrapped his arms around the older boys neck tightly, trying his best not to cry again after he felt a pair of hands gently rub his back, knowing that it was Alvaro.

"I promise you it'll all be worth it in the end. I promise Kai." Alejandro whispered reassuringly.

Kairi stayed silent, hoping that everything his friend was saying would turn out to be true.

After a few minutes of hugs and soft encouragements being whispered into the smaller boys ears the pair let go of Kairi and the all sat down on the bed again, the room being almost completely silent except all of their phones were buzzing from the group chat.

And Kairi intended it to keep vibrating until a loud ringtone came from his phone and he let out a sigh before grabbing it and answering, already taking a guess on who was calling him.

"Hello?" He answered, monotone.

"Kai? You alright?"

"Fine."

"You sure? You don't sound alright." Mattia replied. He wasn't dumb, he knew something was wrong.

"Yeah I'm sure. Probably just allergies or some shit."

"That's fucking cap and you know it. What's going on, Kai?" Mattia asked with a tone that Kairi knew well, his friend meant business.

"For real don't worry about me. Today is supposed to be good one, right?" The boy asked in a sarcastic manner.

"Not if you're not happy." Mattia retorted in a heartbeat making Kairi frown.

How was he supposed to get over him when he did stuff like this.

"Just...just promise that won't push me away Mattia."

"Why would I-"

"You know why. Just promise me." Kairi asked almost pleadingly.

"Alright. I-I promise."
