Leanne sat watching the TV, she was bored but Aimie still had her phone and no-one else was awake. She was still pondering over the questions she asked herself the previous night. Who was her dad? Why did he leave? Was it something she did? Was Aimie lying and her Mum did tell her something? She was so lost in thought, she barely notices her mum walking through the lounge and into the kitchen to get a drink. Leanne was thinking, mainly about whether to ask her mum her questions but was interrupted when two arms came from behind and pulled her into a warm embrace.
"Morning babes"
"Good morning mother" Leanne replied, emphasizing the 'er'.
"What are you doing up so early?" Natalie let go and made her way to sit on the other sofa so they could have a proper conversation and could both see the television.
Leanne started to panic slightly, but played it off.
"Just woke up, couldn't sleep," she answered convincingly.
"Oh okay"
"Ooh mum, want to play a game?"
"Yeah, why not, it's not like we have anything better to be doing, well you're supposed to be sleeping but ya know,"
"Alright, never have I ever... sung 'old McDonald' at my mum's friends wedding!"
"That is not even funny" Natalie exclaimed while laughing.
"Never have I ever.... snogged the TV while it's paused with a fit person on it" she continued.
Leanne went bright red, Natalie had come up with the perfect one for the next round, it would get the issue off her chest without breaking the game and without the other's being around.
"That was once and you know that was a dare from Auntie J'Jaye!"
"You don't need to get all sensitive about it,"
"I was not being sensitive,"
"Or defensive,"
"I definitely was not being defensive,"
"Do not argue with me, Leanne Ella Paris," Natalie joked.
"Never have I ever.... kissed someone that I'm not biologically related to, "
"Oh fudge, I've done that aswell" Leanne added, forgetting she wasn't biologically related to her 'Aunts'. Natalie laughed as this remark.
"Never have I ever...."
Her tone changed from playful and fun to serious and she held Leanne's hand in her own. This worried Leanne, Natalie only ever did this when she was talking to someone upset or she was worried about.
"Had two of my aunts come into my room because I was crying at two in the morning and refused to talk to my mother about what was upsetting me?"
Leanne looked down, her face went red.
"I guess Auntie Aimie told you? I knew she would that why i..."
"No actually, it was Vicki who told me, she said you promised them not to tell me what was upsetting you, right?
Leanne just nodded in agreement - too ashamed to speak.
"So she didn't"
Natalie noticed a puzzled look drew upon her daughter's face.
" She told me you were deeply upset about something and that I should go and find out what it was,"
"So that war is between you and her" Nat joked, hoping she could cheer the teen up slightly but failing.
"So please can you tell me, If I know then I could help you. And that's what Mothers' are for. Please love?"
"Okay fine"
