Chapter Ten: Almost

I have been sitting in my car for the past fifteen minutes, debating whether or not I should go inside or not.

My car was parked beside a building that wasn't big nor was it small. More specifically- a gym.

Yes.

I followed Mason's stupid mustang for thirty- five freaking minutes, just to find out he was going to some idiot gym.

Well, I guess I kind of deserve it for stalking him like the creep I denied I was.

My eyes stayed glued to the dark building. The weather was wet and gloomy tonight, which made the building look more terrifying than it appeared to be.

Something inside me told myself that I should just leave and pretend as if I never went out of my way to follow Mason Franklin, on a school night. But the other convinced me, that nothing terrible could happen if I just walked inside the building and took a little peek around the place.

You know, there could be like a robber or something inside there? I tried so hard to convince myself, but it was useless.

Damn it! I really wanted to leave but my body stayed glued to my car seat. I was just waiting for some kind of sign to warn me not to go inside. Anything.

Another ten minutes later, was when I finally thought to myself—whatever— and exited the car, locked it, and strut to the dark building a few feet away from where I was parked.

Was I really going to do this?
I could feel my palms sweat, and my body shake as shivers ran through my body. I hugged my jacket closer to my cold body, and lifted the hoodie. The rain was getting more and more heavier by the second.

My feet began to pick up their pace. I ran as fast as I could to the front doors of the gym, that were opened. (thankfully)

Holy crap. Am I really going to stalk Mason freaking Franklin? Maybe I should just go back to my car and forget I ever even thought about doing such horrible antics.

Stop it Sofia, you're overthinking.

I literally had to force myself into the building. I bit my lip nervously, fidgeting with the ends of my jacket as I slowly walked along the squeaky reception.

'Curiosity killed the cat, Sofia!', My annoying subconscious tried to warn me, but of course I didn't listen.

This place was a bit too fancy for a gym. Well, not extremely, but it definitely wasn't your average gym.

The luxurious furniture, floors and pictures in the reception put my whole house to shame. I could only imagine what their equipment looked like.

I picked my pacers by a fraction and began to head towards the room, where the arrow sign pointed "GYM." This was literally my last chance to not expose myself to Mason. I can do this, though.

I cautiously cracked open the door by a tiny fraction, preventing as little noise as possible. The loud and tired grunts of who I assumed were of Mason, echoed on the walls of the spacious gym.
Another fraction of the door was opened and this time I could actually see Mason.

He was dressed up in a loose, white top and basketball shorts. Along with a headband wrapped around his damp waves, and AirPods plugged into his ears. I noticed the defined abs underneath his soaked top, and I swear I almost drooled. Sweat dropped down his face in some type of...hot, way. I shook my head vigorously, trying to shake the nasty thoughts that came flooding into my head. What the hell? This was Mason, Sofia. You don't like him because he's annoying, and torments you every chance he gets.

Luckily, from where I was standing quietly, he couldn't tell that I was here.
I should probably go before he did, though.

But just the sight of Mason throwing perfectly aimed hard punches at the black boxing bag, and how his muscled arms flex every time he threw a hit, made my mind go bonkers. How did boys do this? How did they make working out look so hot? But when I did it I looked like that one wet cat meme. It wasn't fair.

He threw another forceful punch onto the boxing bag, making it fly so far back, my eyes went wide.
His strength was immaculate. His aiming flawless. This man could do anything. He was like one of those unrealistic boys that caused me to have such high expectations for men, from the books I've read on Wattpad.

The sweat on the side of his face, dripped from his clear skin. He used his hand to wipe off the sweat from his forehead, and kneeled to take a swig of his water from his bottle.

Why did Mason still  look so good, just by drinking water? His jawline was defined and sharp, and when he drank from the bottle his Adam's apple bopped up and down.
I couldn't help but open the doors another fraction, which was probably one of the most stupid mistakes I have ever committed in my whole seventeen years of being alive.

The door creaked very loudly, and I gave myself a mental slap to the forehead. Luck? I'm sorry, I've never heard of her.

I didn't have time to make a run for it, because Mason stood back up—his bottle in his hand—and caught glimpse of me stalking him, near the doors of the gym.

All I wanted right then and there, was for the ground to swallow me whole and never return back to the surface of the earth again. Ever.

"Who is that?" He shouted, making his way to the doors. I began to panic.

"Nobody!" I yelled back stupidly, giving myself another mental slap to the forehead. What kind of dumbass was I? Selling myself out like that, really Sofia?

No matter how hard I tried, my legs stayed glued to the floor.
Why legs? Why today! Co-operate you pieces of sh*t!
Damn it, I almost cursed! This is why Sofia Mendes, and difficult situations, do not get along.

"Sofia?" Mason looked at me with wide eyes when he caught me standing awkwardly behind the door.
