Chapter Thirteen: Arcade Games

I rang the doorbell to Mason's house, and waited patiently for somebody to answer.

It looked like I was the last person to arrive at Mason's, because Joanna and Ayesha's cars were parked on the road outside his huge house.

I was tempted to just walk to my house and watch a movie with Selena or study, but my idea was left vanished, when the door to the house opened.

There with a bright smile on her strikingly beautiful face, was Mason's mother, Lisa.

Her long blonde hair was tied into a secure bun on the top of her head. She was wearing a loose maroon neck-line dress, and a pair of black heels.

"Hey! Sofia, right?" She questioned with a polite smile on her red painted lips.

I nodded and returned her smile. "That's right. Are Mason and a couple of his friends, here by any chance?"

"Yes, Yes! Come in, dear." She motioned for me to step inside the house.

I was instantly greeted with warmth. Compared to the windy weather outside, this house felt like a sauna.

"Mason and his friends are in the house extension. I'll take you there." Lisa told me, when she closed the front door.
House extension? The house was already big enough. Too big. What did they need an extension for? Did they want to live is a castle or something?

"That would be great, thank you."

She gave me another one of her polite smiles—very similar to Mason's— and walked straight down the house hallway, and opened the door to the kitchen. Just like the rest of the house, the kitchen had a colossal amount of space.

The way the room was designed, was most definitely phenomenal. These guys were filthy rich.

I looked at the kitchen with wide eyes.

The floors were covered in an expensive looking white marble, that shimmered underneath the kitchen's chandeliers. They also had a maroon-coloured D.I.Y bar. Stacks of wine bottles were placed behind the bars counter, in a glass shelf.

I snapped back into reality, and trailed behind Lisa as she walked to the door on the far right of the kitchen.

"Here it is," Lisa directed me to plain wood door.

I stepped inside. Of course the room was huge. Although—unlike the rest of the house— this room was not  overly decorated. But I don't think this was an actual room for sleeping in, or some type of guest room. It was more like a game room.

There were rows of arcade machines with vivid pictures on the sides. Racing games with cushioned seats, dance pads, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN, and even Mario Bros. The repeated sound of bloops, bleeps, explosions, and coins getting collected could be heard coming from the glowing screens.

From the front of the row, Mason was scoring hoops, on the basketball machine. Leo and Tristan were going head-to-head on a game of PAC-MAN, while Clarissa, Joanna and Benny, cheered them on. Everyone was having a good time.
