Chapter Twenty Seven: Karaoke

Mason opened the scrapbook, revealing the first page.

Kailani laughed. "Aw. It's our members page."

As Kailani had said, on the very first page was a title reading 'MEMBERS', and a list of names beneath.

MEMBERS

BILL GATES ( BILLIE)- Kailani
ZACK AND CODY- Zac and Gregg
CANDICE (DICE)- Jeremy (snitch)
STERLING KNIGHT/ "MAE BEAR"- Mason
JOEY- Amelia

I laughed at their code names. It was pretty cute. It was obvious these guys were creative kids.

"Sterling knight?" I chuckled, facing Mason. He shrugged. "What? I was pretty charming back then, and I still am now."

"That's a lie," I laughed. Kailani gave me a polite nudge as she laughed with me. "He cried for it. He begged me to put him down as "that guy from Sonny with a chance."

"No I did not!" Mason defended, but the group responded telling him otherwise.

"Don't fucking lie! We had to put it down cause you wouldn't stop crying-"

"That's a lie, Jer, and you know it!" He retorted.

As the group argued as usual, my eyes began to wander at the last name near the bottom of the first page. Amelia.

Could that be who I thought it was? There could be a chance. I mean, at the front cover of the scrapbook there was the same brunette that I saw on Mason's Instagram post.

I was on the verge of asking who this girl was until Mason turned the page.

Damn it.

The next page was a photo of them at the park with their parents. It looked like a blazing summer day, hence why they all squinted their eyes in the picture. All of the kids were posed in front of the camera, each of them wearing equally beaming smiles. Their parents stood behind them- smiling- in admiration. I studied Lisa closely.

She was the only one in the group of adults that wasn't with her s/o. And from the picture, she seemed perfectly fine with it. Her bright smile could light up a city full of darkness within seconds- She looked freely happy. And young.

Not that Lisa looked old or anything now, just a couple of wrinkles on her face and bags under her eyes.

"This is from when we first met. I vividly remember all of us being left out from one of our classmates birthday parties at the park," Gregg declared, sitting up on the bed. "So we all decided that we should hang."

Jer smiled. "And from that moment on- we became the founders of 'Summer '09'."

The group started talking amongst themselves, and I felt slightly left out. I knew this would happen, so I shrugged it off.

Just then, a vibration set off on the back pocket of my jeans. "Mind if I take this?" I asked them. Kailani gave me a thumbs up, and said I could walk to the hallway if I needed a bit of privacy.
