Graduation came and gone and I found myself preparing for a move to Florida.
Florida is a big change compared to the life I lived in North Carolina, but I was lucky I was making the trip alongside of Bailey and Clark. Liah was accepted into a college in Georgia, but promised to visit as much as possible.
Today is my first day in a new state where I am beginning my college career.
"Miss Shay?"
The lady behind the desk has probably called my name ten times before I could focus on her and away from my new surroundings.
"Here is your dorm key and number, if you need anything please do not hesitate to ask."
Her smile was nice, but it didn't help my uneasy thought about being so far from home.
Bailey was standing by the door with his and Clark's dorm key already in hand. His eyes were looking more gray today and his skin already looked darker, despite only being here for one day. "You ready, babe?"
The whiteboard on my door read "Emory Shay" in perfect yellow marker. I'm nervous to meet my room mate and I'm jealous that Bailey got to room with Clark while I had to live with a complete stranger.
"What if she is terrible and hates me?" I ask Bailey as he packs the rest of my bags to my new room.
"She wont hate you, you're very easy to get along with.. Sometimes."
The last words earned him a slight shove to the chest while I giggled.
"I'm gonna go unpack my things while Clark is at football practice. I'll call you later, if that's okay?" Bailey asked as he made his way to the door.
"Yeah, maybe we can meet up and learn about the campus together after I call Liah, of course"
Despite dating for a while, me and Bailey acted more as friends than as a couple, and most of the time I was okay with it.
Most of the time - Not all.
