Taehyung's POV
"Baekhyun!" I shouted in the middle of the street. "Baekyun!!" He appeared in front of me. "Do you know what happened?!"
"I didn't know! Mom didn't tell anyone about her sickness. I thought it was just over fatigue. I was surpirsed as you are when dad took her to the hospital."
"I have to go there. Look after Jennie. I'll take care of your parents." I was about to go but he called my name.
"Taehyung. If she can't take it.. If she's too weak to survive.. If she really can't make it.. Can you say goodbye to her for me? I can't see her dying. Will you do that for me?"
"You're letting her go just like that?"
"Taehyung. My mother's old. It's a fact that I can't deny. If her body couldn't take everything then, it's better for her to rest instead of having the same problems again and again. I don't want to see my mom suffering." A tear fell down from his eyes. "Go to her. I'll look after Jennie for you." I nodded and took a taxi going to the hospital.
"Mr. Byun!" I ran towards them. "How is she?"
"She's on a critical condition already.. Why didn't she tell me that she had stage three cancer?!" He punched the wall in front of him.
"Mr. Byun, calm down. I know it's hard for you. You love your wife, I know that. It's hard to accept things and I know that. But if she couldn't anymore then.. It's for her to decide whether to keep on living with a bullet inside her or take it out and live in paradise."
"It's not easy."
"I know that too. Accepting someone's..death..is very hard. Knowing that you can't see them again after they pass away would break your heart and even make you lose yourself but.. I learned from someone that, this person wouldn't feel the pain anymore after it. That made me feel relieved. I'm not forcing you to accept Mrs. Byun's condition right now but, you'll realize soon enough that she'll feel better."
After the talk I had with Baekyun's father, we visited his mom and she was smiling as if she's not in a critical condition.
I called our boss and asked if I can take a leave for a day. I'm a hardworking staff so he said yes.
I went back to Jen's house after. I feel bad for leaving her last night. I know she needed someone but I have to help Mr. Byun too. They took me even though I'm just a stranger. I owe them a lot.
"How is she?"
"She's still sleeping. She was crying the whole night and I couldn't comfort her. She's going through a lot. How's mom?"
"She's smiling. Your dad's with her right now. You can go there if you want. She's not showing anyone her suffering. Your mom's stronger than you think." He smiled and disappeared.
I cooked Jennie her breakfast to make it up to her. I know she's mad at me for leaving her last night.
I knocked on her door, bringing the tray of food with me. She didn't answer. I knocked again hoping she's wake up. "Aish." I turned the doorknob and went in. She was sleeping peacefully on her bed while hugging a pillow. That would have been me.
I sat beside her and put the food on the side table. I caressed her face and smiled. I leaned closer to her face and kissed her forehead before waking her up.
She was surely surprised to see me. If we were still back in my time, I'd squish her cheeks and poke her nose. But this Jennie will get the wrong idea if I do it.
"Are you staying? For real?"
"Why not? Tell you what. I'm spending the whole day with you."
