A thousand years ago..

"What's wrong? Why are you up here?" I sat beside her. "Are you crying? Yah, Kim Jennie."

"Ani. I'm just.. I just need someone right now. Everything is just so hard to handle. We've been carrying loads and loads of problems and my parents couldn't take it anymore." She cried and covered her face. "It's so hard being me."

I don't know how to comfort her. Should I hug her? "Um-" I slowly opened my arms for her. "Come here." I said and moved closer to her. I hugged her and put her head on my shoulder. "Don't cry.. I'll help you."

"Tae.. My mom.. She wanted to kill herself last night. We found her trying to put her head on a rope. Dad was there.. I.. I don't know what to do."

"Be strong Jen. Be strong for them, okay?" I brushed her hair lightly and patted her back. She kept on sobbing. Her tears never stopped falling. "Shh.. I'm here.."

She pulled away and wiped her tears. "Thanks." She smiled at me. "Yah. Don't be sad. I'll be strong." I'm not used to seeing her like this. She's always cheerful and happy. I don't want her to be like this.

"Let's go." I took her hand and dragged her inside.

"Where are we going?" We hurriedly went downstairs and left school. "Taehyung!!" I opened the door of my car. "Wait. Where are you taking me?"

"I don't you to be sad. I'll take to the place where I can always feel peaceful." We went inside and I drove to my favorite spot in town. This place isn't famous so several people only comes here.

"This.. This is a tower. How did you find something like this?"

"I was taking pictures when my camera suddenly hit this view. Several people knows about this place. This place comforts me a lot."

"Why? What bothers you?"

"Ah.. My parents would always side with my brother whenever we make mistakes. Good or bad they'll believe him."

"Do you hate him?"

"No.. I love my brother. He may be my parents' favorite but he would always go to my room and comfort me. He's my other half. I can't hate him."

"You're lucky you're the youngest. I'm the eldest among us so I have to sacrifice my time in school for them. We're not like you. I always wondered why you and I became friends."

"Tsk. Does that matter? You're a good person Jen. You're different from those girls who does nothing else but flirt with guys. You're a good friend. My best friend."

"Thanks Tae." She hugged me. "I never had a friend like you. And I'm so happy that you were always there for me. For always caring for me."

"I'll do anything for you, whatever happens.. I'll always be there for you Jennie. I promise."

But I wasn't able to fulfill that promise. My parents wanted to take me with them to the states. They wanted me to be more like my Hyung.

"I'm sorry."

"Then go! Leave me! I don't want to sound selfish Taehyung but you promised me that you will always be there for me! You shouldn't have promised me if you wouldn't keep it!"

"Jennie I didn't know this would happen."

"Don't! Don't say another word to me! Why now..? Now that I really needed you?"

"I'll come back. I will still come back. It's just for several years." She looked up and closed her eyes. "Jennie.."

"I'll wait for you. But I can't promise you that things will be the same when you come back." She turned her back around and left.

And she was right. Things changed when I returned. She changed. And so did her feelings.
