December 2019

We had just gotten off the plane. Camryn was working today, so she couldn't pick us up at the airport. Mason had just gotten home from his own trip. He had actually been in Italy for school, for the past 6 months. Since he was home and we hadnt seen him in months, and Kayla had never met him, he volunteered to pick us up. Milo was at the baggage claim getting our suitcases. Kayla was telling me all about how fun our time at Disney had been.

"When we went on the roller coaster! That was the best!" She smiled, excitedly.

My mind wandered back to that roller coaster.

There were three people per seat in this ride and Kayla opted for the seat farthest left. Milo sat farthest right, putting me in the middle.

"Remember the dead pan challenge?" I asked Milo, causing both of us to laugh.

Kayla looked at us weirdly.

"We'll show you later. We did a bunch of challenges before Zombies," Milo explained.

The ride started and we were off.

I smiled as Kayla kept rambling. I saw Milo coming back with the bags. I turned back to Kayla, to see Mason walking over to us.

"Mason!" I smiled, and began walking toward him.

I gave him a hug as Milo and Kayla came over. I pulled away and Milo hugged Mason. Kayla sent me a questioning look.

"Kayla this is our friend, Mason. Mason, this is my sister, Kayla," Milo said, coming up behind me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.
"Hi, Kid," Mason bent down to high five her, "Let's just hope you don't inherit Milo's looks." He laughed.

Obviously she wouldn't look like Milo, since she's adopted, but we all laughed. Milo faked being offended, making me laugh harder.

Disney World was so fun! I kinda wish we could've stayed longer. Milo and Meg were fun, too. They seemed a bit distant all the same. On the plane ride home, they kept whispering, but I don't know what about. Meg would look kind of sad and lay her head on Milo's shoulder. and Milo would turn his head to kiss her forehead, before they went back to talking. Now this guy, I think his name was Mason, who was apparently Milo and Meg's friend, was here. Milo introduced us and Mason said he hoped I didn't inherit Milo's looks. I frowned as Meg and Mason laughed and Milo pretended to be offended. I, personally, thought Milo was kinda cute. My friends thought that, too. Once they found out I was Milo Manheim's sister, they were all about how 'hot' he is. I may have thought that when I saw them in the orphanage for the first time. And possibly after that, but once I started thinking of him as an actual brother, that thought diminished. He may be catnip to the girls, but he was my brother. And Meg seemed to agree with the other girls.

"I think Milo's good looking," I said, quietly.

They all looked at me.

"He is," Meg agreed, with a smile.
Mason laughed, "I know he is. I'm just messing with him. Anyways, we should get going. I'm just gonna drop you off at your place. My parents are a bit excited to see me."
"Then let's go!" Meg said, leading the way to Mason's car.

We got home and Mason left. Milo carried our suitcases in and sat them at the door. Camryn had decorated while we were gone and ot looked awesome. Now, at my house we always decorated like four weeks before Christmas. In the Manheim household, you did everything last minute. This was the third Christmas I would spend with them. Every year they had done everything on Christmas Eve. Camryn decorated every year. Milo and I would put the tree up and we would decorate it. Then we would make Christmas cookies and drink hot chocolate while watching Hallmark movies, before we went to bed. It smelled like Cinnamon, which was the candle Camryn used every year around Christmas. I had already wrapped everyone's gifts and had them waiting under the tree.
