February 2021

We arrived at the doctor's for my 2 month prenatal appointment and we weren't there long before our doctor called us back to the room.

She quickly did a pap test and a urine sample, before it was time to listen for the baby's heartbeat!

"I'm gonna have you lean back and pull up your shirt," My OB instructed me.

I obliged and held Milo's hand, tightly.

"I'm so excited," I whispered, "But nervous,"

He grinned and kissed my forehead, as the doctor laid her stethoscope against my stomach, finding the baby's heartbeat.

It didn't take long before a sweet sound filled my ears.

"That's your baby," The OB announced.

I covered my mouth and tears formed in my eyes. I didn't know what to say.

"There's our baby," Milo whispered, emotionally, putting his forehead against mine and leaning in to kiss me, excitedly, "We made that!"
"We did," I whispered in disbelief.

We were actually having a baby and for some reason, my brain just now processed that.

I was gonna be a real life mom to a little human!

Milo recorded the heartbeat on his phone, before we were dismissed to go.

"Milo," I sighed, as tears rolled down my cheeks, "There's so much to do before the baby gets here!"
"Meggo, it'll be okay! We still have six months to go!" He consoled me.

These pregnancy hormones had been a real pain and I was constantly crying for absolutely no reason at all...or the dumbest reason.

"Ugh!" I cried out, "I'm so tired of these stupid hormones!"

Milo forced me to lay back against our headboard and leaned my head against his chest, his arm wrapped around my shoulders.

"Here, let's make a mental list of everything we need," He whispered into my hair, "How about...Clothes, crib, baby swing..."
"Baby toys," I began, "bibs, baby monitors..."

We listed off a bunch of other things and Milo smiled.

"And I'm willing to bet that we get a majority of that at the baby shower," He said, kissing the top of my head.

I nodded, burying my head further into his chest.

I woke up to the sun shining through the windows and I realized what today was. March 6th. Milo's birthday. He turned 20. I was only 8 months older than him.

Milo had made it clear that he didn't want a big party, but we were going out for his birthday supper.

My morning sickness had finally started to subside and for the most part, I didn't get it anymore.

I rolled out of bed, deciding to let Milo sleep in on his birthday, and I showered and changed into an oversized t-shirt (to hide my ever growing bump) and a pair of gym shorts.

I went down to join Camryn and Kayla in the kitchen.

"Good morning!" I greeted them, smiling.
"Good morning!" Camryn and Kayla answered in sync.
"What do you say we make Milo a birthday breakfast?" I suggested.
Camryn grinned, "You read my mind."

We got to work on breakfast when I got a sharp pain in my stomach.

"Ooh," I grimaced.
Kayla frowned, "What happened?"
I winced, "I just have a sharp pain in my stomach."
"Are you okay?" Camryn asked, looking concerned.

She reached to touch my stomach where I was holding it.

I turned away, quickly, "I think it's just period cramps."

Camryn nodded understandingly, and Kayla nodded, not yet knowing what the pain was.

We had barely finished, when Milo walked downstairs, in his pajama pants and shirtless. His hair was a mess and his voice was still groggy.

I smiled, getting up to greet him, "Happy birthday, Bub."
His hands instinctively found my bulging stomach and he leaned down to place a small kiss on my lips, "Thank you, Baby."
"Happy birthday, Milo!" Kayla said, throwing her arms around her big brother.
"Thanks, Squirt," He smiled.
Camryn came next, "Happy birthday, Sweetie."
"Thanks, Momma," He grinned, kissing her cheek.
"We made breakfast!" Kayla announced.
"Aw, you guys are the best," He said hugging each of us.
"It's not a problem," I told him, standing in my tip toes to kiss him.

We all sat down to the meal. Milo sat in between Kayla and I, at the bar, and Camryn sat across from us.

"Smile!" She warned.

I looked up to see her holding her phone, I leaned in towards Milo, chin on his shoulder and kissed his cheek. Kayla leaned onto the other side of Milo and put her head in his shoulder, grinning broadly, a piece of bacon in hand. Milo just smiled.

"Cute!" Camryn said, examining the photo, "Instagramming that one!"

After breakfast and we did dishes, Milo and I went upstairs, because Milo wanted cuddles.

We had just been laying on our bed for the longest time. I was on my side, my head on Milo's chest. We were watching Schitt's Creek on Netflix, on his laptop, when I paused it.

"Milo..." I stopped.
"Hm?" He asked, rubbing my back.
"It's time to tell everyone," I whispered.
He smiled slightly, "How do you want to go about this?"
I shrugged, "I guess tell our parents and Kayla first, and then we can tell both of our families at the Easter parties. And we can announce it to everyone else after that."
"Let's tell our parents tomorrow," He grinned.
I nodded and smiled, "Okay."

i'm finally back!! i actually woke up at 2:30 one morning to work on this because i was all congested, had a sore throat, and i was cramping really bad, and obviously i couldn't sleep, so it's kind of all over the place🥴 its kinda short, i wanted to get this out sooner and i had writers block🙄 anyways....i hope you enjoyed!
