February 2020

When I heard Milo say those words, I swear my heart dropped.

"What? Are they okay? How did it happen?" I began spitting questions.
"I don't know," He took a shaky breath.

Tears began to make their way down my face. The two of us stood and I instantly surged forward to bury my face in his chest. My shoulders shook and Milo buried his face in my hair.

"Let's go," I pulled away, slipping on a pair of tennis shoes and grabbing ny keys.

We left the house. Me wearing a loose crop top and leggings, Milo wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. We drove in silence. When we finally reached the hospital, Milo parked and we briskly walked to the main office.

"We're here for Camryn and Kayla Manheim," I told the receptionist.
"Any relation of the Manheim's?" She asked, calmly.
I could sense Milo's tensness, so I answered,"This is Camryn's son and I'm his fiance."
"Please go take a seat," She motioned to the waiting room.
"I need to see my mom and my sister," Milo said, sternly.
"Mi..." I grabbed his arm and spoke, "Calm down."

He backed down and followed me to the waiting room.

"I'm scared," He admitted, squeezing my thigh.
"They could be fine," I whispered.
"Meg, we're at a hospital," He said, looking up to see a doctor looking down at us.
"Are you the Manheim's?" He asked.
"Uh...yes," I told him, Milo and I standing quickly.
"I'm Dr. Kelley, head of neurology and i'm taking care of your family. Kayla is okay," He began.

I let out a sigh of relief, then fear began welling in my chest.

"What about Camryn?" I inched closer to Milo and wrapped both arms around his torso.
He inhaled deeply, before speaking, "She is in a medically induced coma, to numb her pain. She received a minor concussion, but her main problem is the fracture in her wrist. It's pretty severe and very, very painful, even when treated. Kayla is hopefully going to be able to sign out tomorrow."

I looked up at my fiance and leaned my head against his chest.

"Excuse me," The doctor left us.
"Well, I have to go see them," Milo began stalking down the hallway, me following closely behind him.

We found Kayla's room, first. The door was open and she was laying in the bed, by herself.

"Milo? Meg?" She asked, when she saw us.
"Hey, Kayla," I smiled, sadly.

She looked...Like Kayla.

"Where's Mom?" She asked, nervously.
"She's..." My voice trailed off.
"In a coma," Milo whispered, softly.

We each took a seat on either side of her bed.

"I'm scared," Kayla said, quietly.
"Don't be," I assured her, "You'll both be a-okay, in no time."

I wasn't exactly sure if I was trying to reassure her or myself.

"You get to come home tomorrow," Milo told her.
"I know," She said, looking away, "This is all my fault."
"No, no, no, Kayla," I jumped in, "None of this is your fault."

She closed her eyes and leaned her head against the pillow.

Kayla's point of view (Haven't done one of these in a while.)

Mom and I had just been in an accident and it was all my fault. Meg and Milo tried to reassure me that it wasn't, but it so obviously was. I was afraid to admit it, but the whole accident was because of me. My friend's cousin had added me on Snapchat and started snapping me. He was 17 and it probably wasn't the best idea to talk to him, but it felt rude to not answer. I had been talking to hum for a while, but he had recently started flirting with me. I was too afraid to tell anyone, so I didn't. Mom would freak out and take my phone, Milo would overreact and possibly pummel the guy. Meg would insist that I tell Milo. I had been texting him and mom asked who I was texting, when I wouldn't tell her, she tried to look at my phone and that's when she crashed.

"You'll be okay," Meg whispered, stroking my hair.
"Do you want anything to eat?" My brother asked, sitting next to his fiance, "Cause, I'm going to see what I can find out about Mom."
"Soup, please," I told him.
"Okay," He smiled at me, "I'll be right back. Kayla, make sure Meg doesn't get too crazy."
I grinned, slightly, as Meg rolled her eyes, "I'll take good care of her."

He smiled, placing a gentle kiss against Meg's lips, before leaving.

"What's going on with you? Are you okay?" She inquired.

I looked over at her and closed my eyes. She was basically my sister, and I couldn't lie to her.

"Please, do not tell Milo, until I have sorted this out," I began.

She looked at me, attentively.

"So, my friends cousin has been texting me and flirting with me. And just being an all around creep..." I took a deep breath, "He's 17."
She closed her eyes, "Kayla."
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"Why didn't you tell us?" She asked me, seriously.
"I was scared," I said, tears beginning to brim my eyes.
"Oh, Kayla," She reached over to wrap her arms around me.

I was instantly comforted by her vanilla-ey smell. I buried my face in her neck.

"You need to tell Milo," She told me.
"He'll be mad," I squeezed my eyes shut.
"He'll take care of it, though," She tried to convince me.
"Can you tell him?" I looked up at her.
She took a deep breath, "You need to tell him."
I nodded, "Tomorrow. When I get home."
She smiled, "Good."

We heard the door open and Milo come in.

"There's my two favorite girls," He grinned, as we pulled away, "Here's your soup."

Meg's point of view

I was trying to comfort Kayla, but was absolutely appalled, by what she had just told me. There was a 17 year old boy, creeping and flirting with her? That disgusted me. She was ten and this guy was two years younger than me and a year younger than Milo.

"There's my two favorite girls," I heard Milo come into the room.

Kayla and I pulled out of the hug and I looked to see Milo smiling at us. He handed Kayla her soup.

"Mom's going to be fine! It might take a few weeks or months, but she'll come out of it," He explained.
That brought some happiness back to me, "That's great!"
I stood to hug Milo and he whispered in my ear, "What's wrong with Kayla?"
"I'll tell you later," I answered, quietly.

So just finished this chapter and it turned out better than I planned. What gave me the idea of having a 17 year old talk to Kayla, was because one was talking to my cousin, for a loooooong time, but her brother took care of it, when she told him. I thought it would be cute to see the really protective side of Milo, so that will be in the next chapter! It was supposed to be in it his chapter, but it seemed a little bit long.
