So, before you go,
was there something I could've said
to make your heart beat better.

The second task

The second task. Those three words were enough to frighten the girl. She knew exactly what charm she was going to use, a charm Cedric had shown her the night before the task, The bubble-head charm. As much as Ophelia disliked Cedric right now, and as much as her heart convinced her to move on, and be happy with Harry, she knew she couldn't.

The week when Ron let it slip that Harry liked her, she was beyond happy, because she thought she felt something too. But no, she felt absolutely nothing towards him, the next day. Every time she saw Cedric her heart skipped a beat, her face reddened and her eyes twinkled.

She wished that Cedric never went to Cho, she wished that everything would've been fine between them. She just wished, her and Cedric ended up perfectly well. Her friends called her selfish, that she needs to stop playing with Harry's feelings, but she couldn't help the small pull of hope leading her towards Cedric.

Walking down towards the dock, Ophelia looked around for Draco, her heart pounding in her chest. When she caught sight of his friends, she frowned as she saw he wasn't with them. Shaking the bad thoughts from her head, she proceeded to get onto the boat, with the other champions.

Ophelia walked up to James and Estella once she got off the boat, she smiled nervously at them before bringing the pair into a group hug. Pulling away she gave them a soft smile.

"Good luck," James whispered, "Kick their asses,"

Ophelia smiled, "Thank you, I mean it, thank you for everything,"

"With you until the end of the line,"

"Promise," Ophelia asked, sticking her pinky out,

"Promise," James said, taking her pinky in his,

Sending one last smile towards James, Ophelia turned on her heal, making her way towards the champions. She stood next to Cedric, sending him a small nervous smile, as she played with her fingers nervously.

Once the champions knew the rules of the task, they made their way towards a platform, that they would have to jump off of, in order to get into the water. Ophelia was never fond of deep water, it made her shiver as she thought about the things that lurked beneath the deep trenches of the murky water.

When the time came to jump in, Ophelia quickly muttered the bubble-head charm. As the sirens went off, Ophelia dove in, and was now surrounded by the murky, cold water. As Ophelia swam further into the water, a beautiful melody was heard, the same melody from the egg.

As she followed the melody, it lead her to an open space, where their treasures were at. There before her was Draco, Hermione, Ron, Gabrielle and Cho. Ophelia quickly swam towards Draco, trying to remove the rope wrapped around his body. She let out a frustrated sigh, when the rope hadn't move a bit.

Cedric who just swam into the clearing, frowned as he saw Ophelia struggling to find a spell to undo the ropes. Ophelia wasn't the brightest when it came to learning spells. Cedric glanced at Cho, and back at Ophelia, before swimming up to the Hufflepuff girl, he looked around to see if anyone was around them, once he knew the coast was clear, Cedric pointed his wand at the ropes around Draco, and muttered a spell. Once the ropes were gone from around Draco, Cedric swam back towards Cho, setting her free and swimming towards the surface,

Ophelia held onto Draco tightly as she followed close behind. When she got to the surface of the water, she gasped for air, along did Draco. Once the pair was back onto the platform, Draco didn't hesitate taking his cousin into a tight hug.

Cedric pushed past the crowed, making his way towards Ophelia, who was shaking madly from the cold. He placed a light blue towel around her, that was charmed with a heating spell to keep her warm. Ophelia looked up at Cedric, taking the boy into an unexpected hug, which he didn't mind, as he hug the girl back tighter, placing a gentle kiss on her head.

"Thank you, If you didn't help, I'd probably still be down there," Ophelia said,

Cedric smiled softly, "It's the least I can do, especially after everything I've done,"

Ophelia looked down, "You still mean a lot to me," Cedric continued, "And even if you hate me, which I don't blame you, I'll still always be here for you," He said, before sending her a sad smile and walking off,

Ophelia wiped the one tear that slipped from her eye, and looked up, waiting for the score rankings. Dumbledore pointed his wand to his mouth, and got everyone's attention, as they all were eager to hear the winner.

"The winner, Mr Diggory!" Dumbledore announced into his wand, his voice loud and clear,

After the winner was announced, Ophelia zoned out, completely missing her score. The words Cedric said to her, repeated in the back of her mind endlessly. Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Ophelia snapped out of her trance, looking up at the person.

"Everyone's leaving," Ron said, sending her a small smile,

Ophelia nodded, as she got up from her spot, making her way towards the boats. Once she arrived at the castle, Ophelia headed straight to her dorm, not bothering going to dinner. Running herself a nice warm bath, she got in, relaxing into the water, exactly what she needed after a stressful day.

After she got out of the bath, Ophelia dried herself off before slipping into some comfortable pyjamas, and crawling under the duvet covers of her bed. The moment Ophelia closed her eyes, a well needed slumber took over her.

A/N: ayyeee, nearly 20k!! This is insane! I love you all so much and I can't thank use enough!!
