Rushing back into our locker room, I told Tyson about how I saw Maddy in the stands when she supposedly left Midwich. Also how someone who I didn't recognize, escorted Maddy out of my sight. It was a strange occurrence, yet it seemed so real.
"That can't be possible. I heard from Hope that Maddy left a few days ago." Tyson answered with deeper thoughts.
"I promise you, she's secretly watching us play this championship game." I replied, confidently while looking around.
"Surely... not. She moved remember? Stop playing with me Mason for we've got a championship game to focus on and nothing else." Tyson bumped me with a smile.
"Seriously I'm not playing around. Don't you believe me?" I commented back, although Tyson didn't calculate a word I said.
"Honestly no. I think you're a little paranoid." Tyson continued." I'll discuss this with you later however now we have to anticipate and play to win." He continued put his shoes on and staying hydrated to be ready for the next period.
"Let's do this. I'm ready to destroy these owls, lets put them back in their cage." I responded although eventually completely forgetting this conversation.
'Now you're talking sense buddy." Tyson finished, as we joined the team in walking through the halls of the locker rooms.
Tyson and Mason sprinted back onto the field, however the first five minutes were slow. After a change of pace the Mazers interrupted a pass, then started towards the opposing goalie. although it resulted into a great save and no other attempt was shot. Another 5 minutes went by as fast as lighting our team knew we had to score immediately. worries started to get on our faces as the championship is starting to tick away. In the blink of eye Cole intercepted the soccer ball while starting a uphill breakaway, unfortunately I had to trip him resulting into a yellow card.
"Yellow card number 8." Referee Ryan called out." Free kick from the spot of the foul, resume play.
"Time to die without a good fight Mazers." Cole shouted to me, even with an early kick we were ready to anticipate and that we did. within a few seconds Cole's kick turned into a disaster for them, a block by Cody and pass to Zander which applied some pressure on the Owls defense for quite a while.
"Thanks! Let's win this shall we?" I smiled, giving orders from the goal line to Bucky, Gavin and others to keep in a relative formation.
"By all means possible!" Tyson responded, as we took a brief timeout and I switched with Layton to be an attacker.. Going swiftly onto the attack, I interrupted a pass with only about thirty seconds left. Even with my great burst of speed Cole caught up quickly. Purposely tripping me, however he didn't realize we sprinted so far that the trip came inside of the penalty area.
"Penalty shot!" Referee Ryan yelled as he blew the whistle at less than 5 seconds left. It was Mason's one and only chance to prove to his team. In position awaiting possibly the most important whistle every, Mason looked into the huge crowd of 1 thousand. "This one's for you Maddy" he thought. As the whistle blew he took the shot, it hit the goalie hand, post, and the crossbar before ricocheting in. A huge uproar came after that fabulous shot, and Mason's team swarmed around him like never before, even Gavin and Bucky joined in the celebration.
2 to 1 Mazers!!!!
"We did it!!!" Tyson excitingly celebrated, hugging his teammate intensively after a one of a kind shot.
"Yes that we did." I replied, although shortly after the match TheWildBunch came up to only Mason in a private setting similar to when they first met at the old park.
"Mason Matthews on behalf of TheWildBunch group I speak for all of us when saying these words. We (Layton, Jason, and Kane) are retiring from being a part of TheWildBunch and handing it all to you. You have proven yourself to be worthy to lead and follow others in desperate times." Layton stated, this came as a major shock to Mason.
"I'm speechless, I thank you sincerely guys." Mason answered, although they weren't finished amending him yet.
"That's not all. We are giving you this group that allows you to choose anyone to become a member of your choosing obviously. TheWildBunch was formed by us yet due to our going separate ways and your great commanding leadership we've decided to hand the torch to someone else." Kane continued on, smiling at Mason knowing that this was a spectacular decision.
"Also there will be many challenges only great including testing your faith which you will find out more as time goes on. Make sure you are prepared by choose the correct ones eh Mason? Now we are heading out this will be are last time seeing you. Farewell Mason and good luck on your new journeys." Jason responded, as the group gave TheWildBunch group statement/book to him and they (Jason, Layton, and Kane) went in their own desired directions.
"Tyson, Hope, and Mia can y'all please come here for a second I promise this shouldn't take very long." Mason said, this got their full attention immediately due to Mason doesn't say please much.
"Yes, Mason what is it you want to share with us?" Hope asked, she was probably the most intrigued to find out they all just became part of TheWildBunch. Mason told the whole story to them about the former leader/members handing the position to him, and the full reasons why this came about.
"Wow that's amazing Mason, yet what about Maddy is she a part of TheWildBunch even though she's not here at the moment." Tyson questioned, Hope slapped his shoulder although Mason was quick to respond.
"Maddy will always be a part of TheWildBunch member in heart. The next time I stumble or see her she'll already be a part of us like old times." Mason stated that made him remind himself of the time Maddy was snatched in the stands.
"I'm glad she's a part of this group, Mason. You made the correct choice, and I'm glad to be welcome to this group as well." Mia commented, as the rest of this conversation was literally just more and more celebrations and not just about win some soccer title.
After being promoted into TheWildBunch the rest of the celebration lasted maybe a few hours longer, after the Owls left in frustration. Once all the awards and commotions ended I drove home with my family then at the moment of arrival I ran excitingly up to my room, and jumped on my bed facing the ceiling thinking about everything that happened during this school year. "Scared yet excited for the upcoming summer. With a whole 4 months of summer what could possible happen? Mason thought. "From mystical caves to a championship all I can say it's an adventure just waiting to happen." "Also now I'm a leader of this group how will this change affect the upcoming summer?!?!!"
"I mean there's Tyson he's fast, resourceful with a bit of a temper yet a perfect addition to this remarkable group. My sister Mia literally prepared for anything, very sneaky, and is great friends with Maddy or Hope. Hope Fields like her 'boyfriend' even if they don't admit it, they share that temper sense, but she's very good with leading and commanding also which helps our group drastically. Now Maddy she's beautiful I mean yes but also eager, ready, aware of her surroundings and is kinda the "mom" of the group. Man could this group have been any more WILD?!!?" Mason thought, while resting on his bed knowing there's another adventure awaiting for TheWildBunch to solve and explore.
The next adventure continues next time when TheWildBunch face a tougher challenger "Camp Holiday" in StrangerSummer.
