As Commissioner Craig, my Dad, and Mr. Wadewood continued to discuss the current situation regarding Langhammer. The kids decided to exit the room to do a fun board game together. So Me, Tyson, Maddy, Hope, Jake, and Mia went upstairs in my room to play a board game. It was determined that we should compete using money so Monopoly was chosen. After a few rounds in Maddy and I were already eliminated, Hope and Tyson were in the middle of a verbalized sparring match.
"Chance." Tyson said, as he pick up the monopoly chance card. Hoping for a more favorable result.
"Chance to lose." Hope teased, trying to hold on to all her acclaimed properties on the mini board.
"Yeah right. Mo . . . mo . . mo . move five spaces and go to jail. What the heck?!?!" Tyson responded, seems like his luck wasn't changing anytime soon.
"Ha ha. Now you ether pay 50 monopoly money or stay in jail until you roll doubles." Maddy said, due to she is the banker.
"No problem I'll just roll doubles." Tyson confidently replied. However after trying over five times and failing each time Tyson finally gave up.
"Fine here's 50." Tyson angrily said, this definitely changed the aspect of the match.
"Thank you kindly sir." Maddy teased Tyson.
We played for about a half hour more however it was becoming quite one sided as Maddy was taking a significant lead over her remaining competitors Mia, and Tyson.
"I'm bored of this board game." Mia said, as she dropped the dices and rolled doubles.
"Well there's nothing else we can do." Hope said, as she tried to encourage Mia. Although Mason jumped out of his seat like a kangaroo.
"Or can we?" I replied, as I grabbed my phone and started to make the necessary arrangements to execute my plan.
"Mason, I know that look. What up your sleeve?" Tyson answered me, trying to figure this plan out.
What if we gather all our friends and go play capture the flag on the field over in Owensville park?" I encouraged them, finding an plan for this excellent weather which no one wants to waste.
"Okay first off, all our friends? We have like thirty of them. Secondly, Owensville is almost half an hour away." Hope said, as she tried to be realistic.
"Well anything possible with a good plan." I answered, being confident in the thought process I have come up with.
"I totally agree with your statement, Mason." Tyson stated, while grabbing a chair to listen what I had to say.
"Then what's this "Good plan" of yours?" Maddy asked, as she sat by me.
"Okay so we can take the old school bus there and lets minimize who we allow to participate like TheWildBunch, TheGrangers, Coach Brad, and his son." I said, while grabbing my backpack for safety reasons.
"That's only about twenty five people including us." Jake replied, joining into the conversation.
"Mason, how are we going to convince Coach Brad to take us?" Mia asked, knowing that the coach is a bit stiff necked about unorganized events.
"Lets convince him..... by telling that it's extra PE and he could be the referee or main official as well." I said, before walking downstairs and tossing everyone's sneakers to them.
"Then what are we waiting for!?" Maddy responded as she held the front door open, although someone snatched that task from her.
"Ladies first for I insist." I said, while holding the door trying to be a proper gentlemen.
"Thank you." Maddy replied, as she and Hope walked through accepting the kind gesture graciously.
"Yes thank you, Mason." Tyson answered, while walking slowly to tease my gesture.
"Oh just go on through then we're a wasting time." I told Tyson, while giving him a shove and setting the evidence I picked up from Langhammer's hideout on a table near the door.
After another half an hour pasted by..... we finally arrived at Short Meadow High. Coach Berube was looking at the remaining teams we have to play against on the soccer schedule.
"Well hello Mason. I see your back from the wilderness hike." Coach Berube said, as he set the schedule down. ( he doesn't do that often ) this definitely changed the tempo of our mission.
"How come everyone knows about that!? I literally just got back." I angrily answered, trying to get an actual explanation on how everyone knows of my recent adventure.
"Due to you were absent for our second game of the season. Surprisingly we won that game and now have to play one last one against the Owls for a chance at the local (in-state) title." Coach Berube sternly said determined to find a solid answer.
"Well I can explain about that." I nervously answered, as I prepared to testify why I was absent. Mason explain more sever details to his coach like the hike, falling off the bridge, and trying to track down the case he was chasing as so the Evidence Adds Ups.
"Oh my gosh, that seems like a heroic journey to try to clear your name from causing those smoke chaos, yet I still don't see a legitimate reason for you to skip though important events you signed and promised to participate at." Coach Brad responded with concern, still matching the pieces together.
"I kinda hurt my ankle while I was on the 'hike', so I elected to take a day or two off in order to heal my ankle completely." I replied, as Mason showed his bandaged wound.
"Kind of?! More like you hurt it very badly." Maddy blurted, siding with Mason for the first time.
"Maddy, what all do you know about Mason's absence?" Coach Berube questioned, adding the pair might have been in cahoots due to defending each other.
"Oh nothing much for I'm just a observer." Maddy replied calmly, trying not to expose all the information at once.
"An observer my foot. I feel you took more part in this shebang then what you are currently stating to me." Coach Berube said, looking straight at the accused.
"No sir it was my ankle. My foot might have fell yet it stayed together quite well. " I told him, in a jokingly way.
"I'm quite aware of that Mason you might have loss a few brain cells in this shebang and an ankle yet I will get to the bottom of this! However what was the question y'all wanted to ask me?" Coach Berube stated, dropping the main topic temporarily.
"Never mind that now. We were thinking to play capture the flag in the pasture over in Owensville. Since it's such a nice afternoon and you could consider it as some extra P.E for all of us." Hope said, convincing the coach to budge.
"Okay? I like that idea all you lazy, kids could most certainly use some in depth excercise yet what has that got to do with moi? Nothing illegal or she-banging I presume correct? ." Coach Berube asked, making sure this little plan wouldn't fall on his shoulders.
"We need someone who's old enough to drive us. We're not doing anything illegal yet the day's not over so who knows." Tyson stated smiling, while looking at his watch which read 6 o'clock.
"Alright I'm in. However what's in it for me, also lets go to the light field at Owensville due to it'll be dark in about an hour.?" Coach Berube commanded, as he jumped to action executing the plan..
"You can be the referee. Also doesn't this count as PE anyway so just deal with it and come on." Mia said, wanting to get this show on the road.
"Nice I like being official, for it surely does. Let me get the old bus going, and then we can head over there." Coach Berube happily replied, running towards the bus leading the group onward, although they saw a lot of familiar faces heading their way.
"Hey guys look who's all coming." Jake pointed at a couple different directions, while seeing TheWildBunch, TheGrangers, and Tyson's squad ( Joey, Addy, Gabby, Patrick, and Ry ) heading towards us.
