Riley's POV:

I screamed "MAYA WAIT!"
She ran out of the cafeteria and I, of course, ran after her. Damn, that girl sure can run. I see a few blonde strands of hair making their way out the door. "MAYA!" I scream again, "WAIT!"
I pause before I exit the school.
"If I exit, it'll be considered ditching and that wouldn't look good on my record," I thought "But if I don't leave my best friend might disappear from me,"
I ran out.

Maya's POV:

"MAYA!" I could hear Riley screaming behind me. I wasn't going to stop.
"MAYA PLEASE STOP RUNNING FOR A SECOND!" Riley kept yelling. The cracking in her voice got me feeling really weak.

I ran to a big street that I had to cross. I had no time for the stoplight to turn red, so I ran across the road almost being hit by a few cars. I especially heard Riley's cries then. It was her turn to cross the road. I kept running but paused for a little so see what she was going to do. I really hoped she wouldn't cross. She paused a little, looked at me, and started darting across the road. A car was speeding and came directly towards Riley.
"RILEY! NO!" I screamed in fear. I covered my eyes and ran. I didn't want to see the ending of this. I heard an ambulance. "No no no no no," I thought. I started feeling weak and sick to my stomach. I couldn't stand on my legs and ended up falling onto the side walk. Everything darkened and I started dreaming.

Everyone was screaming at me, telling me it was my fault. My fault that my best friend was now dead. How could I have ever done that? Everyone was threatening to kill me as well, I didn't care. "Go ahead and kill me! I deserve it!" I yell "I deserve it!" They all approached me with sharp knives. "MAYA! MAYA! MAYA!" I heard a familiar voice say. "Riley?" I whisper. "MAYA? MAYA! WAKE UP!" I hear her cry "WAKE UP! PLEASE! PLEASE?" Everything was shaking and fading away.

I open my eyes and see Riley's face. It was red, tears were streaming down, and she looked worried as hell.
"Riley?" I ask.
"Maya! Oh my god, you're awake!" She started wiping away her tears, "I'm so glad,"
"Where are we?" I ask, not remembering anything that happened before I woke up.
"We're on the sidewalk. After I crossed the street -"
"RILEY!" I yell, suddenly remembering everything, "YOU'RE OK! I THOUGHT YOU GOT CRUSHED BY THE CAR. I GOT SO WORRIED,"
"Eh, well I barely got touched by any cars," she shrugs.
I get up and start walking.
"Where are you going? Schools the other way," Riley says.
"You really think I'm going to school? I'm going home, you can go on ahead and finish the school day before someone notices you ditched," I tell her.
"Ok fine, but promise you're going to be ok? I'm going to check up on you right after school," Riley asks.
"Yes I'll be fine! Now go," I demand as she waved and started running off "I'll be fine..."
