Maya's POV:
I walked through the town. I walked in a small little bakery and sat down in the only available seat. I knew I couldn't buy anything, but I just wanted to go somewhere relaxing. The guy sitting in the same booth as me was looking at the menu, which covered most his face.
"Hey." I say.
"Hello." He replied. He sounded like some old man.
"Aww man you're just some old dude."
"Well aren't you nice?" He put the menu down. He looked very old, with gray hair and some annoying mustache.
"Go shave your beard old man!"
"Right after you cut your hair." He smiles.
"What's wrong with my hair?!" I yell, grabbing my hair.
"What's wrong with my mustache?"
"I don't know. It just seems annoying, like you."
"Well, same thing with your hair."
I pout my lips and fold my arms. He had some name tag on his shirt. George Feeny. I've heard of the name somewhere before.
"George Feeny? That's a stupid name!" I laughed.
"Well what's your name little girl?"
"Maya Hart!" I smile proudly. His eyes widened and he raised his eyebrows.
"Maya? Now what kind of name is that?"
"A name that's much better than yours!" I growled. This man was seriously pissing me off.
"Well Maya, aren't you going to order something?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"None of your business!"
"Alright then. I see you clearly have no money. Would you like me to order you something? Consider it a gift."
"No thanks. I don't accept charity when I don't need it." I say, even though I was hungry as hell.
"Ok fine, but what are you doing here alone? Where's your parents?"
"Prison." I spat.
"So you're here alone?"
"No, my girlfriend is with me."
"And who's your girlfriend?"
"Riley Matthews."
His eyes widen and he almost choked on his coffee.
"You ok?" I stare at him weirdly.
"Just fine."
"Well I'll be going now. Bye old man!"
"One last thing, Maya."
"What?"
"You should never abandon the people that care about you."
"Whatever, fortune cookie." I walked out of the shop. What a weird old man.
