Maya's POV:

I enter my house. My mom was at work so there was no one home. I sat in the corner and started sobbing, why do these things always happen to me? I hated my life.

I got up and started rummaging through the kitchen drawers. I picked up a sharp knife and started playing with it. I poked it against my arm. Should I really do this? I started scraping it against my arm.

"EXCUSE ME?" I heard as she slammed the door behind her.

"Riley please," I start with tears in my eyes.

"NO! You're not doing this. How could you?!" She yells. She started walking towards me and quickly grabbed the knife out of my hand.

"Riley I-," I whimper "I'm sorry,"

"Come on we're going to my house," she demands as she grabs my good arm.

"No! Give me back the knife and leave," I yell. She looked at me with pure anger in her eyes.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS!? NO!" She screams. I knew she loved me, but I wished she would just leave me alone. I pull away my arm that she grabbed on to and tried snatching the knife from her. She raised it high up into the air, and since she was taller than me, I couldn't reach.

"You know what? Fine. There's plenty more where that came from!" I say as I opened the kitchen drawer and pulled out yet another knife. Riley threw the knife that was with her behind her and tried grabbing the other knife. I pulled the knife against my throat.

"Don't come near me or else!" I scream. She fell onto the floor and started breaking down.

"Why? Why would you ever do this to yourself? Why would you do this to me and everyone who loves you? What happened to you? You always told me you were strong, why can't you be strong right now and throw that knife away?" Riley screams in despair. I couldn't stand seeing her like this. She had a point, so I put the knife back in the drawer and laid down beside her.

"I'm so sorry," I whisper as I hugged her. Tears were both streaming down our faces. "I don't know what got into me,"
