Riley's POV:

Maya and I sat on the hard, dirty, wooden floor of the abandoned church. We tried brainstorming on what we were going to do. I was freaking out.

"What are we going to do? This is bad. Really bad." I sobbed.

"We could always... You know... Steal." Maya said, staring at the ground.

"No! That's wrong. No matter how hungry I am, I will never steal food!" I pout.

"THEN WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE WE DO? WHY DON'T YOU COME UP WITH SOMETHING BETTER?" She yells, still staring at the ground, tearing up.

"Maya, we have to go back home. There's no better choice."

"AND GIVE UP?! NEVER! I'M NO CLUTTERBUCKET." She looks at me straight in the eye.

"Maya."

"NO! You can go ahead and not eat because I'm going to steal no matter what. In fact, why don't you just go back home?"

"I'm not leaving you alone!"

She gets up. "There's some water in the back to keep you hydrated. Just don't waste a drop." She walks out of the church.

I knew exactly where she was going. She was going to steal, hoping I will eat.

Maya's POV:

I always spy on couples having picnics. They always got up and turned their backs against the basket. They took a few steps away and that's when I grabbed the basket. They turned around and looked at me straight in the eye. That's when I ran.

"Hey! That's ours!" Is what they would all say. Some would even chase me. But not this time. This couple didn't even look like they gave a shit. The woman even smiled at me. I smiled back, and ran.

"Riley, I'm back!" I would always say.

"God finally." She would always reply. But not this time. This time she didn't reply.

"Riley? RILEY?" I yelled out. I went deeper into the abandoned church. There I saw her, sleeping on the floor. "Riley? You ok?" I shook her awake.

"I'm- I'm fine, I'm just tired." She groaned as she went back to sleep.

"Ok, goodnight." I smiled. I opened the basket and found a small piece of bread and an apple.

Dammit.

Cory's POV:

We gave up on trying to search for Riley and Maya. They were obviously too far away. The police was still on the case, and they kept looking farther and harder everyday. Everyone else just kept praying that they would finally show up, because they didn't understand how many people cared about them.
