Don shoved his hand in his pocket and took out a fancy looking phone pulling it up to his ear. He had a confused look on his face which soon turned into fear he slowly lifted the phone from his ear and held it in his hand. "Don?" I asked. "Get packed now" he whispered. "What? Don tell me what's happening" I said. "Be quiet and pack your things and get ready to go were leaving" he said I shakily moved away over to a black suitcase and without looking at what was inside the box threw every last time in and zipped the case Layla did the same for hers and we both helped with Stevens.
We put the suitcases near the door and helped Steven out of bed detaching him from the equipment. He groaned in pain as we sat him down in the wheel chair and handed him a pair of sweatpants a t shirt and a jacket from his box and left him to get ready. Once he called us back in a rolled the suit cases and him outside into the hall into the sheriffs office and waited for Don to return.
It felt like house even though it was only minutes later when he entered the room. "I know you guys are confused and scared and I'm will try to explain this as easily I can, James was who called me he knows we are here it was a pretty stupid plan to stay here I knew that but I didn't have enough time to get you three anywhere else there's the deserted area I mentioned earlier we found a house that has everything we need and is pretty far away" he said we all listened intently and nodded. "Ok let's get going" he said and we all grabbed are things and walked out of the station. A doctor came with us and gave Steven some pills for the pain.
Once we got in a large looking van Don got in the passenger seat and three other officers got in the car one of them driving. I made sure to take good looks of their faces in case I recognized them but thankfully I didn't. There was a large open road that went on for miles I was positive we were no where near home. There was not a car in sight or was also late at night but I was so used to traffic and busy streets that this seemed almost too quiet.
"We're finally safe" Steven mumbled as he looked out the window. "ya I guess we are" I said. I looked to Layla who was obviously exhausted with dark bags under eyes she was slouched over she was probably a mirror to what I look like.

We have been driving for three hours straight when he said 'pretty far away' I wasn't expecting this. I have tried to occupy my self but I still had this nagging feeling to stay alert I guess I was just to used to being on my toes. Steven was still awake but we haven't talked much mostly because of the many officers in the van, Layla on the other hand was sound asleep in her chair and I was almost jealous.Steven and I finally started to talk about school how much we missed what people must think I missed talking to him he has always been my closest friend out of everybody I missed the times where we could do fun things all together him me Layla and Tess. Just like when we snuck Steven out of detention so we could all go to the fair but that's when this all started the fair the thing I loved so much was ruined because of James the hatred I felt towards him was beyond believable he ruined me ruined us he's the reason I can't see my family or even feel the slight bit safe I blame him.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the red dot on the floor it was glowing like a laser oh my god a laser! Those are the things on professional guns "Don!" I yelled waking up Layla he snapped his head back and noticed the dot just as fast as I had. "Everybody under the seats take as much cover as you can!" He yelled. The driver opened the door and ran out of the van leaving us behind. "John where the heck are you going!" One of them yelled. I helped Steven limo behind one of the seats and we crawled into the extremely cramped space. Don moved into the driver seat and started to turn around and sped down the road in the opposite direction.
Layla was under the seat next to us and I could hear her soft whimpers. "Don" I said. "Don't worry guys we wil-" and soon he was cut off by the sound of three gun shots.
