Five days of family bonding was enough to make me feel at home. "Hey Alex" my mom said excitedly when I cam down stairs to eat breakfast, everyone was already seated. Ever since I came back everyone has been acting like I am this person they have never seen before and are trying to be as nice as possible.
They haven't stopped smiling and have let me get away with basically everything. My mom won't stop feeding me and I don't blame her I look like a walking skeleton. She is due to give birth any day now and I can't believe I'm blessed enough that I get to come back to see my own little sisters birth. Just on time James.

Steven came over to my house to hang out, it felt weird going from rationing moldy bread to hanging out with my best friend in my untouched room. Layla had gone away to see her whole family in California and would be back in a week when we started school. The thought of going back into high school after being kidnapped seeing dozens of dead body's seeing my own friends die being in severe gunshots and more seemed crazy. And I know how people gossip this would not be a easy ride.
As soon as we were in my room Steven hugged me. "Ok now we never really got to talk so I'm going to just say this ok? I am madly in love with you Alexa and I understand if you don't but I can't help it" he said nervously but there was also a sense of confidence. "Just go out with my god dang it" I said and pressed my lips to his hugging him tighter than ever before.
And that's how I got my first boyfriend.
