There was a loud knock on the door. I fell out of my bed and groaned.
"Who is it?"
"Chiron."
I frowned but picked myself up off of the floor. I opened the door. "What do you want? It's not time for breakfast yet."
"Can you get changed and come to the dining pavilion? Quickly. You're already late."
He turned and trotted off.
"Late for what?" I yelled. He didn't answer.
I sighed and closed the door before changing. I changed the bandages before pulling my jacket on. I pulled my hair up. Then I took off towards the dining pavilion.
Everyone was sitting at their table, smiling and laughing. I walked to my table and sat down. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what was going on.
We still have like thirty minutes until breakfast and nobody has any food. The fire for the sacrifices isn't even burning.
I figured it out when thunder rumbled and the gods showed up. The Olympian Council, minus Zeus, Hera and Artemis, stood in front of the head table.
Chiron bowed to them before turning to look at us. "As you know, the gods will be staying here for a little while. Please do your best to make them feel welcome."
It was an instinct for us to all get up and drop into a bow. I glanced up and I saw Dad walking towards me.
"Rise child."
I was hesitant, but I did stand up. "Why are you guys here?"
Dad raised an eyebrow. "You don't remember? Perseus, this was one of your requests. For us to come and spend time with our children instead of ignoring them."
"Oh. I completely forgot about that. That's embarrassing." I forced a chuckle. Meanwhile panic rose in my veins.
Dad laughed and ruffled my hair. "It's okay. Now how about we eat?"
The panic strengthened, but it's not like I could get out of eating. I made sure to only take a small portion of food. I hoped Dad wouldn't notice. He did.
He stared at my plate with a frown. "You need to eat more."
"I'm not hungry, I don't usually eat breakfast." I forced myself to down the small amount of food, trying to satisfy Dad, though it left me nauseous.
After we finished eating I looked up at Dad, only to find him staring at me. I swallowed and raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"Well, what do you normally do after breakfast? Unlike most of the other gods, you're my only demigod child. So you don't have to share my attention."
"Normally I do nothing. I had to force an entire class of campers to switch weapons because someone taught them a spear technique to use with swords. None of them wanted to listen to me and they would have gotten killed if I hadn't moved them. So I don't have anything to do for a little bit."
"Do you want to train with me?"
"No offense, but I prefer my sword."
Dad smiled. "I am quite capable of using a sword Percy. Just because I have my trident doesn't mean I didn't learn other methods of fighting."
I didn't have a way to get out of it, so I nodded. That's how I ended up with Riptide in my hand, facing off against my dad. He didn't go easy on me, but that's not to say I lost. I managed to disarm him, though I didn't come away unscathed.
Blood soaked my pant leg and I fell to the ground as the adrenaline faded.
"Are you okay?" Dad asked.
"I'll be fine. Uh, can you help me to the cabin?" I reached an arm towards him. He nodded and helped me up. As we headed to the cabin, I caught glimpses of the other gods spending time with their children.
Athena sat with her children, reading. Apollo was playing volleyball with his kids against Ares and his kids.
Once in the cabin, I limped towards my med kit. Dad grabbed me and guided me to sit. He got the med kit, before rolling up my pant leg.
"Dad, I can do this myself."
"I'm the one who injured you, so I should be the one to make sure you're okay."
No matter what I said, I couldn't get him to let me tend the wound myself. He wrapped the bandages around, after washing the cut out. The entire time his gaze was on the dried bloodstain.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Nothing important."
Dad accepted that as an answer. "So, what else do you normally do?"
Everything that came to mind, I couldn't say. Dad stared at me expectantly.
I shrugged. "I don't usually get hurt. I don't have anything to do until crafts. Unless there's a fire or anything that needs water. "
Dad put the med kit away before looking at the fountain and frowning. "Why is one of Tyson's plants in here?"
My eyes widened and I mumbled a curse. "I keep forgetting to get that jar."
"Perseus."
"I was practicing and I accidentally hit it. I didn't want it to die so I put it in there. Did you think of anything to do?"
"Well, we could go for a swim. I could show you some places around the ocean. My brother said we're allowed to leave camp."
"Uh, can we not do that?"
"Why?"
"I don't want to be late for any classes." I lied. "How about you go ahead? I didn't sleep well and I could use a nap."
Dad stared at me, and slowly nodded. He left and I sighed. Finally. I pulled Riptide out. He's gone.
