MEADOW FLETCHER AND CARL GRIMES
May 5, 2017
9:30 AMMEADOW looked at Noah, "You sure my aunt is alive?" Noah looked at her, nodding his head, "I'm sure, as sure as I can ever be, you have my word." Meadow sighed in relief, Rick called Noah over, she got back to work, tearing the benches apart. She swung the axe over her head, hitting it against the wooden bench as hard as she could, the bench split in half.
Meadow stood in the doorway, Rick hugged Carl, "We'll be back soon," Carl nodded his head. Meadow looked at Rick, "Bring my aunt back, please." "We will."
As soon as the door shut, Judith began crying. Michonne bounced her, saying hushed words in her ear. Meadow grabbed the wooden board, Carl grabbed the other side, they both placed the board on the door, nailing it into place.
Meadow sighed out, letting go of the board, the board stayed in place. Walking away from the door, they both went separate ways. Meadow sat in the corner, she sharpened her blade. Carl dropped a bunch of weapons in front of Gabriel, "Pick one. We can teach you."
Gabriel looked up at Carl, he stopped scrubbing the floor. A fake grin plastered on Gabriel's face, "Defend myself? They said they'd go." "They were liars and murderers." Carl scoffed.
"Just like us." "We were protecting ourselves." "At least we didn't eat people." Meadow spoke up, she stopped sharpening her weapon. "You're lucky this church is still standing. You can't stay in one place. Not for too long, nowadays."
Meadow looked down, "He's got a point." She added. "You need to be able to defend yourself." Gabriels hand hovered over the machete, he picked it up. "Good choice, but you're holding it wrong. You need to be able to drive it down in their skulls, sometimes their not so sof-" Gabriel swallowed, "Sorry." He looked like he was about to yack all over the place. Gabriel stood up, his legs were shaking, "I need to lie down." Gabriel walked over to his office, shutting the door quietly.
Meadow went back to sharpening her blade. Carl picked the weapons up off the ground, sitting next to her, "Pick one. I can teach you." He joked. Meadow glared at him, grinning, "Shut up." Meadow shook her head, "I am being serious though, I'm thinking maybe a bigger blade, not that dinky thing you have." Meadow scoffed, "I'll have you know this dinky little thing, has saved my ass plenty of times." "Oh, I'm sure." Meadow narrowed her eyes, "Careful, Cowboy Carl, I'll have Judith knock you flat on your feet." "Cowboy Carl?" She nodded, "I mean," She flicked his hat back, "Yes, Cowboy Carl."
Michonne snorted, a laugh fell out of her mouth, "Of course you find this funny." Carl shook his head, "You two are always ganging up on me, I swear." "It's out of love, Carl." Michonne said, grinning. "I don't know about that one." Meadow joked. He nudged her with his shoulder, "I'm joking." "Mhm, sure." Carl grinned at her, there eyes never breaking contact, not even blinking.
Meadow smiled, leaning in a bit, Carl's heart pounding, but he continued leaning in. Closer and closer. Meadow blew in his face, He looked at her, all sorts of confused, "You had an eyelash on your cheek." "Oh. Thanks." Carl pressed his back against the wall, his face was red. Michonne watched this, a smirk grew on her face, she crossed her arms looking at Carl. Meadow went back to sharpening his knife.
Carl looked at Michonne, shaking his head. Michonne's smirk grew, her eyebrows raised as she moved her head towards Meadow, not breaking eye contact with Carl.
"Please!" Gabriel yelled, it sounded as if it were coming from outside. Meadow stood up, "Please! Let me in! Please! Let me in!" Gabriel yelled. Without hesitating Meadow booked it to the door. Gabriel banged on the door, "Carl! Michonne! Meadow!" Carl tried ripping the board off with his hand. Meadow looked around the room, she saw the axe on the ground, she picked it up, "Stand back." "Wait!" Michonne yelled, Meadow swung the axe over her head, hitting it, the axe made a dent in the wood, Meadow repeatedly swung the axe at the wood, it broke in half.
Carl opened the door, Gabriel ran in, Meadow used the axe, killing as many walkers as she could before it got stuck on a walkers head, she pulled back, it wouldn't detach itself. She kicked the walker away. Carl shot at the walker, Michonne sliced them. They backed away, there was too many of the, "The rectory, go!"
They backed away into the office, Meadow held the door closed. The walkers banged on the door. Gabriel put a chair underneath the door knob, pushing Meadow out of the way, he held the door close, "Hurry! Go through the hole and take the little one with you!" Michonne handed Judith to Meadow. Carl jumped down in the hole, Meadow sat down, cradling a crying Judith, Carl helped her down. They crawled underneath the church. Carl stood up, handing Meadow his hand, she took it. Michonne came out from underneath the church and not even a minute later Gabriel came out, with a bloody machete. "I can't run anymore." "We're not running."
They went back to the front of the church, Carl stabbed two of the walkers that were stuck. Meadow stayed behind, cradling Judith. Michonne walked into the church, grabbing one of the boards, Carl grabbed the other. Quickly they shut the door, banging the boards. Michonne used her belt and tied the two doors together, walkers pushed against it.
Meadow leaned up against the fence, the boards not holding. Judith was in the baby holder, facing the front. Meadow unholster her gun, holding Judith with one hand, "Where do we go?" Carl asked. All of the boards fell, the wood cracking.
Meadow heard the sound of a vehicle approaching. She looked over to see a fire truck, smashing into the front steps of the church, blocking the walkers in. Meadow's head tilted, she watched as the group who were supposed to be going to DC got out. Meadow saw her brother, a smile cracked on her face. They walked up to them, "You're back?" "Eugene lied." Glenn said, looking down, "He can't stop it. Washington isn't the end. Where is everybody?"
Michonne looked at Maggie, "They found Beth, she's in a hospital in Atlanta. Some people have her, but the others went to go get her back." "Do we know which one?" Michonne nodded, "Grady Memorial."
Maggie let out a breathless laugh, hugging Glenn, "Oh my God."
"Let's blow this joint, go save your sister." Tara laughed, Maggie let out a laugh, nodding her head.
12:16 PM
The fire truck pulled up to Grady Memorial. Meadow looked away, she has always had a rash fear of hospitals, "Do you want to-" Meadow shook her head, "No, I can't." Michonne nodded, getting out of the fire truck with the others. It was Carl, Meadow, Judith, and an unconscious Eugene.
"I have always hated places like this." Meadow whispered. "I saw my apartment building, most of it destroyed." Meadow looked at the seat in front of her. "I just wanna get out of the city." Carl gripped her hand, giving her a reassuring squeeze. She looked down at her hand and his, looking at him, "I thought we'd have a chance for a world without walkers." She paused, "I was wrong about what I said last night, about not being able to get used to it, I could." "I know." "I would. I would for Ryan." Her eyes filled with tears, she blinked them away.
A scream, they both heard it. Carl looked down. Meadow flinched, her eyes closed. Maggie wailed.
