MEADOW FLETCHER AND CARL GRIMES
April 23, 2017
7:32 AMMEADOW was the first one to walk through the front door of the house. Ryan was sleeping on the floor, Rick still passed out. "We need to fortify this place, make sure nothing can come in." Carl whispered, gently the two of them moved Rick and the couch to the front of the door. Carl tied the door shut with a cord. Carl nodded at Meadow who nodded back at him.
Meadow decided to take it upon herself to go upstairs. She walked through the hallway, wondering about how she was going to tell Ryan about her recent discovery, that their parents basically ditched them. She stopped infront of a bedroom, it was clearly a teenaged boys room. Video game posters scattered the walls. Clothes on the floor.
Meadow walked into the room, near the dresser. Her once grey tank top was covered in blood. She opened the dresser, taking a black shirt that looked twice her size. She grinned, taking her grey tank top off, exposing herself, she threw it to the other side of the room. Cuts and scraps rested on her pasty skin. Some discolored spots on her body, a singular freckle near her belly button. Meadow let out a deep sigh, you could see her ribs, poking out of her skin. She shook her head, pulling the shirt over her head, she pulled her hair from out of the shirt. The shirt was extremely long, like a dress on her. She sighed, taking the shirt off, looking once again in the dresser. She took out a grey shirt, it looked like it would fit, she threw it over her head, it was a little loose but I fit somewhat right. She pulled her hair through the shirt. She looked at the bed, instantly becoming tired, but she couldn't sleep, not yet. She walked back down the stairs, looking at Rick. Carl was nowhere to be found.
Ryan was awake this time, "There was some roamers, Carl went to go take care of em." Meadow nodded. "Where is mom and dad?" Ryan asked, Meadow's mouth went dry, "We went back to the campsite Ry, there was nothing. The station wagon was gone, everything."
"The station wagon wasn't running." Ryan said, he didn't believe her. He couldn't believe her. "What, they just pack their shit up and left? Left us behind? That's what you're saying." Meadow looked down. Ryan got up, stomping up the stairs and slamming a door shut. Meadow flinched.
She decided it would be better just to give him some space. Meadow went out the back door, following the muddy tracks. Carl was bent over, throwing up. Three walkers were on the ground, dead. "I win." Carl said, looking at Meadow. "Clearly."
"I told Ryan, he didn't take it well. I decided to come out here, give him some space." Carl nodded, let's go, scavenge some of these houses." Meadow nodded, "Let's." She walked ahead of him, he caught up, "Thanks for snapping me out of it." Meadow looked at him, "I probably would've died if it weren't for you." "Thanks for snapping out of it." They grinned at each other.
Stopping in front of a house, Carl grabbed one of the lights from the ground, pulling it up. They walked up the concrete path, walking up the porch. "We used to live in a house like this, maybe it was a but smaller." Carl said.
"We lived in an apartment, three bedrooms, it was never quiet." Meadow commented, "I bet it was quiet here."
"Me too." Carl said. He looked at the door, running towards it, he was trying to bust down the door but ended up bouncing back and landing on his back end. Meadow tried to hold back the laughter but in the end she ended up laughing, Carl glared at her, "Yeah, I bet this is funny to you." Meadow nodded, covering her mouth, "If it's so easy, then you try."
Meadow looked at the door, "Is that a challenge?" She asked. "Yes it is." Meadow helped him up. "Fine." Meadow continued to look at the door, she picked her right leg up and ended up kicking the door in. Carl looked at her, "I loosened the door up a bit." Carl commented.
