MEADOW FLETCHER AND CARL GRIMES
April 30, 2017
9:37 AMMEADOW stretched her arms, cracking her back as she sat up. They decided to stop for the night, get some rest and then begin walking before noon. The fire was crackling, Rick put some beans in the fire, to cook them, "Morning, Mi, Happy Birthday." Ryan said, handing her some water. Meadow gracefully took the water, taking a gulp of the like warm contents. "Morning." She said back to Ryan. "Thank you." She whispered.
"On a scale of one to ten, how hungry are you?" Rick asked the group. "Fifteen." Carl answered, salivating while he looked at the can. Rick looked at Michonne, "Twenty-eight." Michonne said. Rick looked at Meadow, "What about you?"
"Fifty-five." She grinned. Rick chuckled, "Yeah well, it's been a while."
Meadow looked down, looking at the fire. Ryan nudged her, "I know, I'll try to make today special Mi, I promise." Ryan whispered. Meadow shook her head, "I just wanna treat today, like any other day."
"I'm gonna go check the snares." Rick said.
"Can I go with you?" Carl asked, looking at his dad. Meadow didn't know the first thing about hunting, she did know the first thing about tracking though, "Can I also?"
"How else you gonna learn?" He grinned, looking at the two teenagers, "Come on."
Meadow picked herself up, she looked at Ryan, "Go have your fun, I'll be here when you get back." Meadow grinned, looking at Ryan.
She followed Carl and Rick to the snares. "We'll stay another day or two. Get some more rest." Meadow held her bow in her hand. Rick looked at her, "You remind me of my friend, always carrying his bow around." Meadow looked at him, "Before or after?" Meadow asked, "After, he's still alive, most likely. He's a badass."
Meadow nodded. Looking back down at the ground. "Finish healing up?" Meadow asked Rick. Rick nodded, "I'll almost there." "We need to find some rubbing alcohol for your stitches." Meadow commented.
"We must be close now, right?" Carl asked, looking at his father. "To Terminus?" "Yeah."
"We are." Rick said, putting his hands in his pockets. They walked down a tiny path in the woods. Carl nudged Meadow's arm with his, "What's up?" He asked.
"It's my birthday, I think. Ryan knows apparently. Which means it must be April Twenty-fifth." Meadow said. "Is that so?" Rick asked. "I guess." "Happy Birthday, Meadow. How old are you now?" Carl asked.
"Seventeen. I usually have my parents here, they always knew the date. We could be three days off, but we always knew it was the month." Carl nodded. "Happy Birthday, Meadow."
The three of them continued down the path. "When we get there, are we gonna tell them?" Carl asked Rick. "Everything that's happened to us. All the stuff we've done." Carl paused, "Are we gonna tell them the truth?" Carl asked.
"We're gonna tell them who we are." Rick answered his question. Meadow was interested also. "But how do you say that? I mean," Carl paused again, thinking of what to say, "Who are we?" Rick was going to answer the question but then a walker emerged from the woods, snarling.
Meadow unholstered her knife, looking at the two of them, "I got this one." They nodded, watching her wall towards it. The walker held it's arms out, Meadow kicked it's knees in. The walker ultimately fell to the ground, she plunged her blade, deep into the walker's skull, it made a squish sound, rotten black blood oozed from it's head. Meadow ripped her blade out of it's head, she pushed the walker over. Rick grinned, "Nice, we gotta work on your form a bit."
Meadow nodded, cleaning her blade off with her pants.
They continued walking to the snares, "Here we go." Rick said, rushing up to a snare, "It's a small one, it should still do." A tiny rabbit was hooked on it. Rick began untying it.
