THE scissors slide across Maggie's hair, making a snipping sound whenever I closed them, hair falling to the ground. I brushed Maggie's much shorter hair out with my fingers. My head craned around her shoulder, "I think, I'm done. I know I'm not a professional." I handed her the hand-held mirror, her fingers wrapped around the black handle, she positioned the mirror in front of her face, a smile growing, "Thank you, Meadow."

"I like it. But why?" I asked, she looked at me through the mirror, "Because, I have to keep going but I can't have anything getting in the way." Maggie looked down, moving around in discomfort, "Man, did I go too short? I-I only used to cut my dad and Ryan's hair."

Maggie let out a shaky breath, her eyes closed, "No, it's not that." "Maggie?"

She opened her eyes, her body folded forwards, "Maggie!" She let out a yell, holding her stomach, she tried getting up. Her legs wobbled, giving up underneath her, she fell to the ground, her yells getting louder. "Maggie?!" My heart was pounding, "I-I'm gonna go get help, stay here."

I left the front door opened, "Help!" I yelled, "Help! Maggie needs help!" My chest went up and down, a bunch of people entered the house, Maggie was screaming, holding her stomach in pain, "She needs a doctor!" A woman yelled, "Get the RV, get supplies, we leave in twenty." Rick said. People swarmed out of the house, Rick stayed with Maggie.

I stayed on the front porch, far too afraid to enter the house. A hand was placed on mine, my breathing slowed down, my eyes still wide, filled with alarm. Carl looked at me, "Slow breaths, everything will be okay," I nodded my head, staying quiet.

"We'll get her there, I promise."
