Finn's POV

She looks at me with a puzzled expression, like she's trying to figure out a mystery. Her hair is still in curls and she's still wearing the scarlet lipstick to match the dress she was wearing before they put her into a hospital gown.
"I'm Finn, we act together." I say after a pause.
"Hi." She says.
"I have to tell you something. I'm the one you pushed." I say slowly.
"I pushed you? I'm sorry, are you okay? Did I do that?" She says as she points to the tiny cut on my arm with concern. Her eyes start to water.
"Well, now I'm glad I don't remember. I seem like a horrible person." She says as a tear escapes and falls down her cheek.
"No, no, no. You didn't hurt me, you saved me. You pushed me out of the way of the bullet." I say as I walk up to her and wipe the tear off of her cheek. She winces when I touch her.
"Sorry." I say.
"No, it wasn't you. My head just hurts." She says. I nod, but it actually is my fault that she's in pain. She saved me and almost killed herself.
Just then a nurse walks in with a syringe and takes her arm and injects it.
"This will help with the pain in your head." The nurse explains. Her name tag reads Carol.
"Okay." She whispers.
"What about all the glass in her?" I say, looking at the countless pieces jabbed into her.
"We have to pull them out. But there's no medicine that can stop her from feeling that." Nurse Carol says to me. Oh god. She has to suffer even more for me.
"Okay hun, I'm not going to lie to you. This is going to hurt like hell, but we need to take the glass out of your cuts now. I'm going to go get my supplies." Nurse Carol says to her. She then turns to leave. Then, Noah and Millie walk in.
"Hi Zara. I'm Millie, and this is Noah." She points to herself then Noah.
"Hi." She says shakily.
"I'm so glad you're okay. You don't remember this, but you helped me realize that I still love Millie, and now we're dating again." Noah says to Zara. I now notice Noah and Millie holding hands.
"Noah." Zara says as she looks down. "I remember a beach, and your name." She finishes. Noah's eyes light up.
"Yeah! That's where we went on our date!" He says to her. Nurse Carol then returns, rolling a cart with a bowl, tweezers, and a towel.
"Excuse me nurse, she remembered something!" Noah says with a smile.
"It's normal for her to pick up a few things. But she won't get the majority of her memories back." She finishes as she pulls up a rolling chair to Zara's bedside. "This is going to hurt. But it has to be done." Nurse Carol says as she picks up her tweezers and digs it into one of Zara's cuts. She winces and shrieks in pain as the Nurse pulls out a bloodied shard. I can't. I can't watch her like this, and I leave the room. I close the door and sink to the floor, grabbing my knees. Even though the door is closed I can still hear her scream. Noah and Millie follow me into the hallway.
"Finn, what's wrong?" Noah asks.
"This is all my fault. Look at her." I say to them as I start to cry. The two look through the window and see her scream in pain as blood trickles down her arm.
"Finn, you didn't make her save you, she did it because she wanted to." Millie comments.
"And besides why do you care so much? You're so awful to her." She includes.
"I like her, okay? I like her. And I knew she wouldn't like me back so I was mean to get her away from me." I choke.

"But now you have a chance to fix this. She doesn't remember you or how you've acted. You can have a second chance." Noah discloses.

"Noah, that's a bad idea. She's going to find out how he treated her. Whether it's through her memory or someone else." Millie informs.

"Millie, the nurse said that she wouldn't get her memory back. And you won't tell her, right? So please, let me try to fix this. She saved my life, please?" I plead.

"Fine, Finn. But if you mess this up. Think of how much more pain she'll go through." Millie cautions as she stands up. She drags Noah with her and they walk off. I decide to go back into the room. I have to be there for her like she was for me. I open the door and see the nurse pull out a larger shard from her leg and watch as more blood drips out. I see a tear fall down her face as the nurse gets ready to take another piece out.
"Wait!" I say before she pulls it out of her.
"Can I talk to her for a second?" I ask.
"Sure. We were just about to take a small break. I'll be back in a few minutes." She affirms as she walks out of the room.
She wipes the tear off of her cheek and looks away as I approach her.
"Zara, I just wanted to say thank you. I know you don't remember, but thank you." I tell her.
"You're welcome. I guess we're friends?" She asks.
"Yea, we are." I say back to her with a smile. "I'm so sorry you have to do this. It kills me." I admit.
"It's okay. I'm glad you're here." She replies.
"Okay, round 2." Nurse Carol says as she walks back to her seat. I see Zara's eyes start to water.
"Okay." She says to herself.
"Hey, it's okay. Want me to hold your hand?" I offer.
"Sure." She smiles softly. I grab her hand gently. Mine is warm, and hers is ice cold.
"If it hurts, just squeeze my hand." I say.
"I can't. I don't want to hurt you. I already did that." She points to the small gash on my arm.
"I don't care. Break my hand." I tell her. She giggles at my comment.
"I'm sorry, but visiting hours are over." The nurse announces to me. I turn to Zara. I don't want to leave her.
"Please let him stay, please." She begs. Nurse Carol waits for a minute, then agrees.
"Okay, we're gonna start with the biggest one." She says. I look at her, and she looks back at me, then down. I softly raise her chin up.
"Just look at me." I insist. The nurse pulls and she squeezes my hand.
