Zara's POV

I step out of the hot, steaming shower and into the coldness of my room. My whole body feels disoriented and the only thought in my mind is "Why?". Why would Finn go through all this trouble just to hurt me?  Why did he choose her? All these questions and no answers. It's enough to make a girl go mentally insane. Millie enters the bedroom from my closet, holding some cute pieces in her arms. She then places them all onto my bed, one at a time. A thick, baby pink sweater first, some rip-less skinny jeans, a knit, white hat that looked super cozy, my favourite brown, suede boots with a heel, along with some faux glasses that hold a shiny, golden rim.

"You can wear the glasses to hide that you've been crying. The light tint will make it impossible to notice." She offers. I nod, taking the gleaming pair from her hands.
"I'm going to change into the outfit I brought." Millie says as she takes things out of her bag. I take the clothes from my bed and head into the bathroom. I take off my outfit from last night that I didn't bother to take off because I just didn't have it in me. I throw it into my hamper. I slip into the fresh pair of jeans and put the warm, chunky sweater on my body.
Millie is wearing a white, off the shoulder, crop
top with a tan, sherpa wool jacket. She paired it with some ripped, dark blue jeans.

"Aww. Let me fix up your hair for you." Millie calmly says walking into the bathroom with a hairbrush in hand. She carefully brushes my hair and leaves it hanging down smoothly against my back. I put the hat and glasses on, and she's right. The tint really does hide the fact that I have been crying for the last 15 hours of my miserable life. I step out of the bathroom and face Millie, wanting her seal of approval.
"You look gorgeous! Let's get going now. I really don't want to be late." She says as she takes my hand and guides me back to the front entrance. I take my pink bag from the dreaded carnival outing last night and zip up my boots. Then, we head out the door. It only takes a few minutes for us to walk down to her trailer and the campfire is the first thing we to come into sight. The fire is burning so vividly and bright, with orangey red hues flickering everywhere, casting dancing shadows that glimmer against the starlight.

Caleb, Gaten, Natalia, Joe, and Charlie are all sitting around the fire, roasting marshmallows on sticks. They're all laughing and talking and it seems really cozy and nice. Everybody is wearing jackets and sweaters and mittens to keep warm in the chilly fall air. Gaten is by far the most dedicated to keeping warm, wearing Mickey Mouse earmuffs. Millie gestures for me to sit down next to her on a wooden stool, and I do. The warm glow of the dancing fire is comforting, and for a few moments, I forget about everything as I'm hypnotized by the lights. I snap out of it when Natalia bends closer and starts to say something to me.
"Take this, Zara." Natalie kindly says, offering me a stick and the bag of marshmallows.
"Thanks." I reply with a small smile as I gladly take the stick from her gloved hands and slide one of the sugary treats onto the piece of wood.  I set the marshmallow bag on the floor against a rock and place my stick near the licking flames. Caleb snatches another marshmallow from the bag on the ground and he puts it on his stick. He puts the stick with the marshmallow directly into the fire.
"Dude, you're supposed to put it by the fire, not in it!" Caleb argues, putting emphasis on where his stick is in relation to the fire with his other hand.
"My way is faster." Caleb replies. Within seconds, his marshmallow of catches fire. He screams like a toddler and throws the entire stick into the fire. We all burst into laughter.
"Nice method." Joe snickers at Caleb, who's setting up another stick and marshmallow for himself so he can try again.
"See? You're having fun and most importantly, you're not thinki..."  Millie trails off as she turns her and notices Noah and Finn approaching, walking up to the campfire.
"Hey guys!" Noah says as he and Finn sit down.  Finn's eyes widen slightly when he notices that  I'm here. I stand up, about to leave, but Millie
grabs my hand, as if to tell me to ignore him and stay.
"No, I can't. I can't." I say softly with no expression as I pull my hand away from hers.
I start walking briskly to leave when Finn yells, "Zara wait!" He stands up, trying to stop me from leaving. This makes me even more mad at him. Now he thinks he can tell me what to do? I try to stop myself from doing what I'm about to do, but I can't hold back anymore, so I turn around and face the campfire.
"No Finn, I will not wait. You know, you could've at least had the audacity to tell me that you were no longer interested in being with me, instead of me having to figure it out for myself. I took a freaking bullet for you. A bullet. That hurt like hell. But this? This hurt more. In fact, I wish that it killed me so I wouldn't have to live through this." I yell, this time with no tears.
I take off my backpack and open it. I take out the teddy bear that Finn won me at a carnival game last night. I walk right up to him and toss it into the blazing fire. I pick up my bag and I walk away.
